A large William IV mahogany breakfront secretaire bookcase, with moulded cornice above a crossbanded frieze, the centre section with pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to shelves and above a secretaire drawer with fitted interior and further pair of panelled cupboard doors beneath flanked by flat pilasters, each end section with glazed upper portion and panelled cupboard door beneath. Height 101 ins, width 110 ins, depth to front of secretaire 24.5 ins. NOTE-this bookcase, although all of the same period, was initially a secretaire bookcase. The matching side sections clearly made by the same cabinetmaker are of slightly different timber although of exactly the same design as the centre section.

The interior is later upholstered and electrified. The slant front desk supports the bibliotheque with a locking slant front panel which opens to reveal a tooled tobacco colored leather writing surface, four drawers, 2 cubbies and a horizontal sliding panel.
