A 19TH CENTURY BIEDERMEIER FIGURED MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE ABBATANT, having a moulded top above a serpentine frieze drawer and a panelled drop-down front, the interior fitted with a central cupboard flanked by four drawers to either side inlaid in satinwood, pearwood and harewood with a deer within a foliate cartouche and foliate sprays to each drawer, with pull-out leather incised writing slide, above three full serpentine fronted drawers flanked by canted corners, with foliate brackets, on square feet, 107cm wide x 59cm deep x 148cm high. An early 20th century mahogany military secretaire chest of drawers, in two sections, the top half with central secretaire drawer and three further drawers, the base with two long drawers all with recessed brass handles, carrying handles to either side and turned legs. Width 106 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chest is veneered. There are no names on the locks. The secretaire drawer height is 24 cm, width 48 cm, depth to pigeonholes from inside of flap 22 cm. The two side drawers are 24.5 ins wide and the interior front to back 41 cm, left to right 22.5 cm, height 21.5 cm. The three long drawers are all different sizes the heights respectively are 17 cm, 15 cm & 19.5 cm. They all have the same internal measurements 99 cm x 41 cm. The three bottom drawers all have holes in the rear as if the piece at some point has had knob handles. We cannot explain this.
A George III mahogany secretaire bookcase, with thirteen pane astragal doors below a moulded cornice with broad satinwood banding, above the fitted interior with five pigeon holes below three shallow drawers and flanked by banks of four drawers, all over three long drawers on a shaped skirt and feet, 42¼ x 21¾in. (107.25 x 55.25cm.), 83½in. (212cm.) high.
A George III mahogany breakfront secretaire bookcase, the three 13 pane astragal doors of the top section below an ogee moulded cornice and enclosing three adjustable shelves, over three deep drawers, the central drawer with fitted secretaire interior comprising a central cupboard flanked by four pigeon holes and fourteen drawers of varying size, the drop front with green tooled leather writing surface, above four cross banded flame veneered doors, on a shallow plinth base, 73 x 19¼in. (185.5 x 49cm.), 95½in. (242.5cm.) high.
A mid-19th century French kingwood, cross banded and marquetry secretaire abbatant, the grey marble top over a single frieze drawer with inlay of tulipwood panels divided by stylised pillars of boxwood and ebony, cast brass escutcheons and handles over the fall with quartered veneers and triple inlaid leaves to the corners conforming to the decoration of the sides, enclosing a well fitted interior, the lower half with three long pine lined drawers within crossbanded canted sides and raised on slightly shaped legs with brass scroll mounts, 34½ x 15¾in. (88 x 40cm.), 62½in. (159cm.) high.
LATE VICTORIAN MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, the upper section having moulded cornice over two astragal glazed doors revealing adjustable shelves to the interior, the projecting base with a foliate carved fall front secretaire drawer, revealing a fitted interior of pigeon holes and small drawers, over a pair of Art Nouveau design foliate moulded blind panelled doors on a platform base. 127 x 47 x 216cm. CONDITION REPORT: Basically good clean condition commensurate with age, minor scuffs and wear and tear, particularly extremities and base. Shrinkage cracks to side panels, and minor stains.
19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, having dentil moulded cornice above pair of astragal glazed doors revealing adjustable shelves to the interior, the associated base with moulded edge top above deep secretaire drawer having fitted interior and fall front, three further cock beaded and graduated drawers below, now on bracket feet. (A marriage). 130 x 57 x 225cm. CONDITION REPORT: A marriage, overall rather dry and lacking in patination, scuffed and worn commensurate with age, one back leg is damaged, front bracket feet are probably replacements, further restoration required.

With weighted fall front revealing the fitted interior, having mother of pearl escutcheons and raised on turned toupie feet, 195cm high, 113cm wide, 51cm deep. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Some previous wood worm damage to the back. Polish original but faded. Some veneer cracks.
