AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY DUTCH MAHOGANY AND FLORAL MARQUETRY SECRETAIRE ABATTANT, the interior fitted a central cupboard, six drawers and pigeon holes enclosed by a fall front with three long drawers below, rococo handles and cornice drawer with all over foliate decoration and central urn and shaped supports, 39 3/4" wide x 61 1/2" high (see illustration).
A 19th Century French rosewood serpentine fronted secretaire, carved with flower sprays and scrolling foliate mouldings, the gadrooned edge above a satinwood lined drawer fitted with four short drawers, the two doors below enclosing sliding trays and the canted corners ending in scroll feet, 134cm (4ft 4 1/2in) wide, lacking upper section.

A George III mahogany, marquetry and bronze mounted fall-front secretaire, circa 1810, in the manner of Thomas Hope, with boxwood stringing and ebony palmette marquetry devices to the spandrels, the black marble top above a fall-front opening to reveal four small drawers and an arrangement of pigeon holes, above a pair of doors, flanked by pharaoh ferm figures, the brass locks stamped ‘G.R’, 137cm high, 91cm wide, 39.5cm deep. The black patinated bronze lion mount to the frieze can also be seen in gilded finish on a Regency ormolu-mounted burr-yew breakfront bookcase supplied to George, Prince of Wales by Marsh and Tatham for Carlton House in 1806.
