Raingo Freres bronze mantle clock, the bronze case with cherub and floral swag mount with doves above the circular dial enamelled with both Roman and Subsidiary Arabic numerals and with two-train striking movement, flanked by fruiting vine decoration and raised on a velvet lined giltwood plinth with further plinth beneath. Overall height 54 cm, width 37 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in generally extremely good condition. The case is in good order with no visible damage and no repairs to the metalwork. It has much of its original finish and is simply dusty. The clock sits on a velvet topped giltwood and gesso base which does not appear to have its original paint finish. It is in good condition but in our opinion has been overpainted at some point its life. The black base beneath the clock is relatively modern but in good order. The clock dial has minor damage around the right hand winding aperture. The remainder of the dial is in good order. Both the strike and winding trains are overwound. The strike train is however striking as it should when the pointers are moved. The clock also seems to be ticking away and has been running for half an hour despite being fully wound. The maximum depth of the black base is 10 ins. The gilt wood base depth is 7.5 ins.
A late 19th century French gilt brass mantle clock, with porcelain panels depicting draped female figures in an Egyptian style, the face with Roman numerals, movement by Marti & Co. Clock height excluding wooden plinth 36 cm, width 22.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in original un-restored condition. The case is dirty and tarnished and some of the original lacquer and finish is missing particularly around the base. There are however no losses to the case which is structurally in good condition. The door is in good order and the glass not damaged. The front porcelain panel is in good condition with no issues. The left hand panel is in good order also. The right hand panel has a crack running across the piece from left to right across the bottom of the figures dress and the image is a little faded. The rear door is in good condition. The movement appears to be clean and complete. The clock winds on both trains. We have the pendulum but the metal strip is damaged and we have not had the clock running.
A 19th century boulle marquetry mantle clock, with two-train movement, the face marked "E. Villemsens, Paris". Height 33 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock winds as it should and appears to be ticking away. The dial is in generally good order with one minor surface blemish above the left hand winding aperture. There are no cracks to the dial. The clock case is all complete with no significant losses. There are cracks to the boulle work beneath the bird but no losses. The reminder of the case is in good order and simply a little dirty. The same applies to the metal mounts. The rear door is original and operates as it should.
