A French porcelain mantle clock, the dial marked "Marx a Paris", case by Jacob Petit. Height 41 cm, width 38 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock dial is damaged around both winding apertures and across the numeral 3. There are numerous small hairline cracks. The tip of the hour pointer is missing. The clock is fully wound on both trains and we have not had it ticking. The porcelain pediment has minor losses to the rose and leaf bocage at the top and another loss to the right hand side of the top bellflower. There is a crack across the swag beneath the portrait and the top of the ribbon ear is slightly rough to touch. Both cornucopias have extensive floral escutcheons and there are numerous small losses to the encrustations on both sides as well as to the small baskets of flowers either side of the dial. The clock case is also very dusty. The base of the case beneath the clock is in generally good condition. The front left hand bottom foot has been detached. There is a foot missing from the centre beneath the cherub panel. All other feet are rubbed at the base.
An Edwardian twin fusee mantle clock, with silvered dial, the case raised on four brass ball feet, the movement striking on five gongs. Height 48 cm, width 37 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is of good colour and patination with no significant issues. The brass feet are original. The door is not warped and opens as it should. The silvered brass dial is in very good condition. The movement is fully wound on both trains. The clock does however seem to strike as it should when the hands are advanced. The clock is currently ticking but stops after about a minute. We have the pendulum but no key.
A French gilt metal figural mantle clock, the dial marked "Raingo Freres a Paris", with two-train striking movement. Height 31 cm, width 27 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock winds on both trains. It appears to run for approximately 2 minutes then stops and strikes on the half hour and full when advanced. The clock case is in generally good original condition but it is very dusty and dirty. There are two very small blemishes around the winding apertures on the face but otherwise it is in good order.
