Causard, Hrg du Roy (Paris 1890-1910) a Louis XV style rose pink marble and ormolu mounted, 8-day lyre clock with "Sun King" mantle, the movement with a deferred overhead pendulum with an oscillating halo of cut and foiled crystal surrounding a convex dial marked in Arabic numerals and painted with swags of flowers and chiming the hours and half hour with a passing strike. Große französische Louis XVI-Kaminpendule60 x 52 x 27 cm.Signiert „MARTIN A PARIS“. Frankreich, 19. Jahrhundert.Weisses Emailziffernblatt mit römischen Stunden und arabischen Minuten. Bronze, vergoldet und bruniert. Wie die meisten figürlich besetzten Pendulen ist auch diese Kaminuhr einem Thema gewidmet, hier dem Gedanken der Aufklärung. Auf dem längsziehenden, vergoldeten Sockel ist die weibliche Allegorie der Wissenschaft sitzend gezeigt. Die brunierte Figur hält ein Buch, während sich links gegenüber ein Hahn, Symbol für den Weckruf zur Bildung, über mehreren Büchern erhebt.
