An Edwardian inlaid mahogany mantle clock, by E. Scanlan, Preston, with two-train striking movement, the case raised on brass ball feet. Width 80.5 cm, height 28 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock appears to be striking correctly. It is however only ticking for short periods. There is a label in the rear of the case stating that the clock was overhauled and cleaned in 2008. We cannot guarantee whether it is working or not. The case is in good condition. The face has some small nibbles around the winding apertures but no significant damage. We have the pendulum and key. The clock appears to be fully wound on both the strike and going train which might explain why it is not running correctly.
A 19th century French boulle marquetry mantle clock, with single-train movement and silvered dial. Height 30 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The metal finial is slightly loose and requires two pins. It is also dirty. The clock case has no defects to the timber but is a little tired. The metal mounts around the frame are all in good condition and all legs present. The marquetry is in generally good condition. There are two minor losses to the left hand side of the door hinge. The silvered brass dial is tarnished in places and the numerals rubbed and faded. The door is original and in good order. The movement winds and is currently ticking away.
A 19th century onyx mantle clock, with winged cherub surmount, two-train striking movement and ormolu mounts. Width 33 cm, height 49 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is in extremely good condition. The metalwork is exceptionally clean and has its original finish. The marble is also in very good order with only very minor surface scratches which are of no significance really. We have the clock key. The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking as it should. There are very minor nibbles around the left hand winding aperture but again this is of no real consequence. The clock could be used or resold in its current condition without the need for any work.
A late 19th century French gilt brass and marble mantle clock, with two-train striking movement and ceramic dial. Height 33 cm, width 17.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock is currently ticking away and striking. It has been running for the last three days. The clock glass is in good condition as is the dial. The case is a little dirty and has lost some of its original lacquered finish, but there are no losses. The marble has some minor scuffs but again no real issues. The feet are original. The rear door is present.
