A 19th century mahogany cased mantle clock, with two train fusee movement, the dial inscribed James McCabe, London. Height 26 cm, width 18 cm, depth 12 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in reasonably good order. It is structurally sound. Beneath the brass knop there has been a timber fracture and the piece has been reglued into position. The front edge of the moulded cornice has also had a break that has been repaired. The sides of the case are in generally good condition as is the front base and back. The brass handles appear to be original. The silvered brass dial is a little rubbed in places. The brass feet appear to be original. The movement does wind on both trains and seems to be ticking away. It does strike when advanced. Please note that this is no guarantee that the clock will run for eight days, it is just an indication only. There is no inscription on the backplate. In our opinion the case and movement are not a marriage. It is not possible to take photographs of the movement due to access.
