MEISSEN-STYLE PORCELAIN MANTLE CLOCKthe Rocaille clock, with partial gilt body, the lower left frontal body decorated with the Royal coat of arms of Saxony, the goddess of Peace rests on the left foot and Mars, the god of war stands on the right foot, centered a clock face, with Roman numerals in navy, Arabic numerals in black, set within a metal case, atop sits a bird flanked by two more women, all against a white ground with floral accents,marked with factory mark registered to Carl Thieme in blue underglaze, with numeral 1000 in blue underglaze, all under base; height: 51 cm (20 1/8 in.) CONDITIONThe clock appears in age-appropriate condition. Overall crazing visible to the white ground, rubbing to the gilt, most notably to the left side. The birds yellow beak has been repainted, which is visible to the naked eye upon close inspection. The clock is not in working condition. Inspection under UV light shows scattered retouching, most notably to the sleeves of the armor of Mars and the blue pillow. Overall fluorescence visible to the clock body and figures.
