Samuel Palmer (British, 1805-1881) A Woman with her child in a cornfield pen and ink, heightened with white, on buff paper 29 x 22cm (11 x 9in) Provenance: From the estate of the late Eila Grahame of Claverhouse Exhibited: London, J S Maas & Co Ltd, Spring Exhibition 1963, No 61 Samuel Palmer was a key figure in English Romanticism in the 19th Century. He was strongly influenced by William Blake with whom he formed the group “The Ancients” with their aim to live close to nature and thereby paint and write in a state of poetic rapture. Palmer's early works were best known for their visionary pastoral scenes: "The Magic Apple Tree" at the Fitzwilliam Museum is his most famous work. Condition is fine.

A rare Tri-ang pre-war No.MT4 large scale tinplate Magic Sports Car by Line Bros Ltd. A clockwork 4-seat sports car. Finished in two-tone green with red wheels (length 420mm). This model features a fold-down windscreen, spare wheel, ‘long running’ clockwork motor with governor (to prevent wheels racing away when lifted) and rubber tyres. Key present. Together with a related advertising page from The Meccano Magazine. Boxed, minor age wear.
