A collection of works by Lethaby inc.: Architecture, Mysticism & Myth (1892); Leadwork (1893); London Before the Conquest (1902); Medieval Art (1904); Westminster Abbey and the Antiquities of the Coronation (1911); Architecture (1911); Form in Civilization (1922, along with 1936 and 1957 editions); Londinium Architecture and the Crafts (1923); Home and Country Arts (1930); and Architecture, Nature and Magic (1956). Lethaby was a hugely influential architect and historian and his ideas were drawn on by the Arts and Crafts and Modernist movements. A collection of unique magic lantern slides, c.1923, illustrating a trip around Venice and Milan, to include introductory maps, street and interior scenes and paintings, in three boxes, together with the Thornton-Pickard 'Junior Special Ruby' camera and accessories, with which the photographs were taken, and a converted magic lantern (qty.) The vendor's grandfather, Ernest Henry Jacques, stayed in the Hotel Metropole during his time in Venice. He was an amateur photographer whose images included sensitive compositions of street families and also of the architecture and artworks more commonly associated with this form of 'turismo'.
