A Fine 17th Century Joined Oak Monk`s Table/Bench. The three plank top/back measuring 67 ins x 28 ins (170 cms x 71 cms), pivoting on wooden pegs. The bearers having rounded ends with baluster turned posts to the front and square posts to the back leading down to a box form seat with hinged lid and triple panelled front. Standing on sledge feet 30 ins (76 cms) table height, 48½ ins (123 cms) bench height.
A COALBROOKDALE CAST IRON GARDEN BENCH of Indian type design, the back rest with single arch having foliate crest above a trefoil and radiating strapwork and flanked by foliate panels, iron slatted seat, scrolled arm rests and hoof feet, 72" wide (Illustrated). This design No.90929 was registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Foundry on 28th April 1853 and appears as No.20 in the Castings catalogue
AN ADZED OAK PANELLED HALL BENCH by Horace Knight "Knightman", the padded seat with cow hide covering, pierced lattice back and open arm, flanked by drawer with cupboard doors below, having wrought iron latch and hinges, raised on turned faceted legs, 36" wide, 27 3/4" high (Illustrated). Horace Knight established old mill furniture in Balk, Thirsk in 1984 and produces much in the style of Robert "Mouseman" Thompson although he was not an apprentice in the Kilburn workshop.
