A GEORGE IV FIGURED OAK HALL SEAT IN THE MANNER OF GILLOWS, CIRCA 1825 The back centred with a cartouche centred with a crest and motto 'NEC ASPERA TERRENT' 75cm high, 69cm wide, 45cm deepThe motto 'Difficulties do not daunt' is that used by holders of the Hanoverian Order of Guelph instituted in 1815. Most British holders of this motto were officers of the Royal Navy or Army, though the present motto and crest are unrecorded in this form and likely to have been assumed.
