A Papal State 1868 model Remington rifle, a gift for Petrus Regout dating: mid-19th Century provenance: Belgium Round, rifled, 12.5 mm cal. barrel with octagonal breech, provided with foresight, clutch for the bayonet and adjustable rear-sight, marked with stamps of Liège test bench, the papal tiara and more; iron frame with rolling block mechanic (some problems), on the left the marks "E M & L NAGANT A LIEGE", "BREVET REMINGTON 5675" and stamps of Liège test bench,on the right an heraldic emblem with a deeply engraved shield featuring three lilies and effigies of four, numbered orders. On the sides of the emblem four inscriptions: "1. COMMANDEUR DE L`ORDRE DE ST. GREGOIRE" and "2. CHEVALIER DU LION NEERLANDAIS" on the right; "3. CHEVALIER DE LA LEGION D`HONNEUR" and "MEDAILLE D`OR DE LA BELGIQUE" on the left. On the upper tang of the frame "AU PRINCE DE PASTEURS. / P.REGOUT. / COMMANDEUR DE L`ORDRE DE ST. GREGOIRE". A silver mounted flintlock pistol by Bunney dating: last quarter of the 18th Century provenance: London Bronze, two-stage barrel, octagonal and round, with frames at the girdle, slightly bell-mouthed; at the breech the engraved signature "Bunney - London" and stamps (Viewed e Prooved) of Birmingham test bench. Lock with bronze plate decorated with floral motifs and signed "BUNNEY". Iron hammer shaped as a swan-neck, iron batterie and spring decorated en suite. The upper arm of the spring of the lock is convex at the first part in order to make the hammer push stronger. Walnut stock decorated behind the tang. Silver mounts featuring conventional decorations: the trigger cover ending in the shape of a pineapple, two ramrod holders, counter-plate and shield. Butt-plate depicting a lion head; featuring the silver mark on the trigger covers: Birmingham, 1783/84.Joseph Bunney was one of the main gunsmiths of his time, he signed important weapons featuring silver mounts produced by himself. An early 20th century oak monks bench. CONDITION REPORT: This bench has a fixed back and is not folding. The width is 47.5 ins, height 39 ins, depth 18.5 ins. The condition is generally very good. The back is in good order as are both lion terminals. The seat is flat and not warped and there is no evidence of any significant damage, no repairs and no woodworm.
A late 19th century Black Forest carved hall seat, supported by two standing bears. Width 38 ins. CONDITION REPORT: The condition of this bench should be fairly clear from our image and estimate. As you will see the ears and noses of the bears have been badly chewed, the corners of the seat also. The pattern to the top of the seat is approximately 50% worn away and the seat top is slightly warped. The bears themselves other than the damage referred to around the mouths, nose and ears are in reasonable condition with only minor scuffing and scratches around the feet. The damage has been caused by a dog that use to sit on the bench and chew the bears heads.
