Late 17th to early 18th century wooden monk's bench or table.Height: 29 1/2 in x width: 63 1/4 in x depth: 24 1/2 in.Condition: Wear throughout consistent with age including scuffs, scratches, and some wear to the finish along high points. There are five butterfly patches along the folding backsplat of the bench. Small loss along the lower front center of the bench. Separation to the joints throughout. Tarnishing to the metal components.
Circa 1757-66Each depicted seated on a bench, she with a broth bowl resting on her lap, he with one arm outstretched and leaning across to share her soup, on a slab base, she with incised F for Étienne Maurice Falconet, the models by Claude Louis Suzanne after François Boucher.Height of taller 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) The two earliest recorded examples of the female figure appear in an inventory of January 1, 1756. Suzanne sculpted the model after a painting by Boucher, see Alexandre Ananoff, François Boucher, 1976, vol. II, no. 414, p. 103. Though obviously conceived to go together, the earliest example of the male figure does not enter the inventories until January 1, 1763, see Tamara Préaud and Antoinette Faÿ Hallé, Porcelaines de Vincennes, Les Origines de Sèvres, exhibition catalogue, Grand Palais, Paris 14 October 1977-16 January 1978, p. 182. Her spoon and tip of her right little finger missing, his hand holding a piece of bread missing, chips to his hat brim and cloak.

Ornately carved Asian, possibly Japanese export, lacquered hardwood bench or loveseat depicting profuse mythical and geometric motifs throughout in high relief; the armrests in the form of dragons chasing flaming pearls and a scene along the backsplat portraying birds amid foliage and floral blooms, possibly lotus, late 19th to early 20th century.Height: 49 in x width: 53 in x depth: 26 in.Condition: The chair appears structurally sound. There is a small possible loss along the apex of the backsplat. There are some small and fleabite chips to the lacquer throughout along high points of the carved details. Separation to the joints throughout, especially along the seat. Some bowing to the seat. Dust gathered along the recessed areas.
