The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1968 Ford Transit CamperRegistration no. Not UK RegisteredChassis no. N/AOdometer reading: 20,460MOT expiry date: N/A*Partially converted into a motorhome*Twin wheel heavy duty model*Rust free bodyworkA series one Ford Transit, this left hand-drive van has been partially converted into a camper van but retains its distinctive grey vinyl single front seats and moquette rear bench seat. The van's bodywork is in very good order with no visible corrosion, testament to its low mileage and its maintenance and care by its municipal owner in Germany, where it is still registered. Equipped with an uprated electrical system, this Transit represents a rare opportunity to acquire solid example of the much sought after series one model, with side doors on both sides making it ideal as a stylish and classic racing support vehicle for UK and continental events. Running and driving it will need some recommissioning prior to active use following a period of storage. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 72/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1965 Saab 96 Monte Carlo 850Registration no. EAE 587CChassis no. 347564Odometer reading: 63,800MOT Expiry: N/A*Immaculate condition*Low mileage*Dry stored in Carcoon*Ready for recommissioningAn homage to Erik Carlsson and Pat Moss for their victories at the Monte Carlo rallying circuits, the Saab 96 Monte Carlo 850 is an iconic homologation special. The car featured a longitudinally mounted 841cc engine that was uprated with triple carburettors and oil injection for the Monte Carlo, putting out 57bhp. A modified cylinder head and filled crankshaft counterweights helped give the engine a higher compression ratio, and therefore more power. Externally, the Monte Carlo is distinguishable via special Monte Carlo badges, unique front seats and rear bench, special door cards, wood trimmed steering wheel and dual chrome strips on the side. This low mileage 1965 example is in immaculate condition, and has been dry stored in a Carcoon for the last 20 years. The vendor's father who owned the car beforehand originally planned to take the car rallying, but decided against the decision due to its immaculate condition. The car currently does not run, but there is good history with the car and it is ready to be recommissioned for the road. The vendor has stated that he is aiming to get the engine running and started by the time of the sale. Many original 96 cars have been stripped of parts over the last few decades for restoration of the more desirable Monte Carlo models. This is an opportunity not to be missed.
