1965 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon Reg.no. BUF 591C Chassis no. PIA 7140 8/W Engine no. 7A 7601 Jaguar, by adding Daimler to their fleet, gained more than one benefit. The V8 engine designed by Ed Turner, was truly great, and the company wanted to appeal to a more upmarket clientele. The Daimler also tried to appear less rugged than its Jaguar counterpart, therefore attempting to win over the women drivers at its launch in 1962. It was only available with a bench seat initially and then the model received upgrades in 1967. Our vendor advises us that the car has a truly excellent interior, described as ‘almost as new’. Much money has been spent on this part of the car with a new wood trim set, Connolly leather seats and a good quality new headlining, all carried out in 1996/1997. The car is sold with what can only be described as an extensive history file, covering 1977 to the present, with MOT certificates from 1997. This six owner car has a current mileage of 60,336, which is believed absolutely correct. The car last had a major engine overhaul in 2006 at 55,000 miles. This is a great example of an instantly recognisable car, which has had many thousands spent in recent years. The new owner will reap the rewards for years to come.
