Signed and dated lower right, in a gilt wood and gesso frame of the period.Small spots of paint loss lower right corner; faint marks to the canvas from the stretcher bars; small areas of loss and repair to the gesso frame. A carved oak bench with panelled back and lift top seat CONDITION REPORTS Has general wear and tear conducive with age and use. The panels and moulding are separating on the back. There appears to be something missing from the back rail as there are filled in holes, various splits, scratches and knocks conducive with age and use including the left hand seat panel and vertical support. A slatted wooden bench with black stained supports in the manner of George Nelson for Hermann Miller CONDITION REPORTS Varnish is worn and there is a cigarette burn to the top. Underneath, the joints have been re-glued and support blocks added. One leg in particular looks as though it has been attacked by an animal. Generally quite tired, scratched and scraped, although appears to be structurally sound. See images for more details.
A Victorian Gothic oak hall bench, the pierced ends with linen fold decoration to the lower sections above triple carved panelled front, width 88cm. CONDITION REPORT: Minor wear to arms commensurate with age, otherwise appears good with no further obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
