The ex-London Motor Show1961 Aston Martin Lagonda Rapide SaloonRegistration no. Not UK RegisteredChassis no. LR/105/ROffered without reserve•Retained by the factory as a demonstrator and development car•Known ownership history•Factory-fitted DB6 engine•Automatic transmissionFootnotes:'It has long been my ambition to produce a car which would be equally suitable to drive or to be driven in, great comfort, large luggage carrying capacity yet still be exhilarating to the owner driver and capable of effortless sustained high performance. There is such similarity between modern cars that one is fearful of the day when all will look, and be, alike.' - David Brown on the Lagonda Rapide.Aston Martin revived the famous Lagonda name in 1961 with a luxurious four-door sports saloon – the Rapide – that took its appellation from one of the marque's most exalted models of the late 1930s. It had been David Brown's intention that the Rapide should be the 'most mechanically advanced car available', offering effortless acceleration to 130mph. Beneath the Rapide's Superleggera aluminium coachwork (by Touring of Milan, the carrozzeria responsible for the Aston Martin DB4 sports car) was a lengthened (by 16') DB4 platform-type chassis reconfigured to accept De Dion rear suspension, the adoption of which allowed rear compartment space to be maximised. Powered by a 4.0-litre (236bhp) version of the Aston Martin DB4's twin-cam 'six' that would later power the DB5 and DB6, the Rapide certainly lived up to its name with brisk acceleration and a 130mph-plus top speed. Dual circuit, servo assisted disc brakes restrained this excellent performance, while fittings to the traditional interior included electric windows, picnic tables to the rear, filler cap remote opener, and a radio as standard. The Rapide's price when new was £5,000, some 25% higher than that of the Aston Martin DB4, which itself was not exactly a cheap automobile. A mere 55 units, almost all of which were equipped with Borg Warner three-speed automatic transmission, were built before production ceased in 1964. Today, 47 of the original 55 Rapides are known, 'LR/105/R' being the fifth built. Displayed at the 1961 London Motor Show and kept by the factory as a demonstrator and development car, '105/R' was first registered to Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd (as '92 MY') on 11th October 1961. Its original colour scheme was Dubonnet with fawn leather interior trim. On 10th December 1962 the car was registered to David Brown Tractors Ltd followed by AML Ltd (for the second time) on 7th February 1967. Later that same year the Lagonda was registered to its first private owner, Thomas Crumbie of Leicester. Mr Crumbie was followed by Cavendish Press Ltd of Leicester and then Peter Biggs of Cambridgeshire, who is the previous keeper listed on the accompanying V5C document (please note that, as the car was subsequently exported, an application will need to be made to retain the registration number). Registered to Desmond J Smail Ltd, '105/R' was sold by them to the current vendor in November 2010. Copies of factory paperwork on file record the fact that the engine (originally '400/105') has been changed twice by the factory, the unit currently fitted ('400/1655') being that of a DB6, as is the Borg Warner Type 8 automatic gearbox. Interestingly, the AMOC Register states that '105/R' was treated to a modified front end and changed from a De Dion to a 'beam' rear axle by the factory, and that it is the only example of the proposed Mark 2 series. Its provenance and unusual specification make 'LR/105/R' an extremely interesting and significant example of this rare and wonderful car, which was the personal project of David Brown himself. The Rapide has been on static display for a number of years and will require recommissioning prior to road use. With the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in 2010, the Affalterbach-based firm took a significant step forward. First seen at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and acknowledged as a tribute to the legendary 300 SL 'Gullwing' coupé of the 1950s – arguably the world's first supercar – the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was notable as the first car to be designed in-house by AMG. A collectors' item from the day it was announced, the newcomer featured 'Gullwing' doors like its illustrious predecessor and succeeded the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren at the top of the German manufacturer's range. Styled by Mercedes-Benz's Mark Fetherston, the SLS AMG received numerous prestigious design awards, and is the only automobile ever to have won the (gold) Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. An open roadster version was introduced for 2011.Boasting a chassis/body of mainly aluminium construction, the SLS (Sport Licht Super) was powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine producing 563bhp initially - the most powerful normally aspirated production car engine of its day - while the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission was similarly state-of-the-art. A rear wing, extendable at high speeds, kept the SLS stable at its near-200mph maximum, while its low weight (3,573lbs) helped the car lap the Mercedes-Benz test track quicker than its SLR McLaren predecessor. Not surprisingly, given its pedigree, the SLS AMG proved very popular with racing drivers, Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton among them, while the list of celebrity owners includes Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Pacino, Roger Federer, Sylvester Stallone, and Tom Hanks. Several limited edition versions were introduced, including a GT3 racer, leading up to the SLS AMG GT Final Edition of 2014. Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers has said that there are no plans for a successor, so for the time being the SLS AMG remains the ultimate expression of the noble 'Gullwing' tradition.Finished in Designo Magno Graphite with Exclusive black leather interior, offered here is an example of the enhanced (591bhp) SLS AMG GT Final Edition, introduced in 2014, only 350 of which were made. Sold new to the current owner on 16th June 2014, this collectible modern Mercedes has seen relatively little use and is presented in commensurately good condition. 1987 Renault 5 TL 'Rio' Limited Edition - Rare 'Rio' UK only Special Edition - Odometer reading 57,355 miles - One lady owned nearly 30 years - MOT expires 31st July 2022 - Cherished Registration Number comes with the vehicle Renault's '5' is a four-passenger, three or five-door, front-engine, front wheel drive hatchback supermini manufactured and marketed by one of France's most successful automobile companies over two generations: 19721985 (also called R5) and 19841996. The compact, small car market was thriving in the UK during the 1980's and the R5 was significantly Renaults best selling UK model. The second generation shape (released in 1985) featured a new transverse engine and gearbox layout, galvanised & zinc coated structural elements, improved efficiency engines, 20% greater glass area, and uprated safety features. The driving distance range of the new 1,108cc 'TL' model, when fitted with the 5-speed gearbox, on a full tank of fuel was elevated to a staggering 620 miles, equating to 68.9 mpg... a world record at the time for a spark ignition vehicle according to Renault. To accelerate sales further and draw in a younger audience, Renault UK launched a Limited Production 'Special Edition' named 'Rio' in March 1987. 4,000 cars were made available (as either a 956cc 4-speed or 1108cc 5 - speed) with a twin speaker digital stereo system, 3-position Britax glass Sunhatch roof, multi-coloured pattern fabric upholstery amongst other features. Only available in bright red or silver, all were sold out in the first few weeks of being launched. JIB 1844 (the cherished number stays with the car) was first registered in May 1987 - one of the last registered 'Rio' Special Edition cars. Specified in Bright red with the larger 1,108cc engine and optioned with 5-Speed manual gearbox. Joan Ivy Bull (JIB) purchased the car in 1991 and transferred the cherished number on to the car within the first twelve months. The Renault 5 was sparsely used, accumulating no more than 6,000 miles in the first eleven years of her ownership. The keys were lost and the car was stored in her garage until Summer 2020 when a specialist key company were asked to create new keys for the vehicle. They subsequently purchased the car, serviced and recommissioned the car for road use. The car was purchased by a young lady local to Ewbanks in the Summer of 2020 but has been driven less than 100 miles in her first 16 months of ownership. She tells us that the car always starts and been fun to drive on the occasions of her using it. There is a good quantity of new and old MOT certificates in the history file, which correlate with the current odometer reading, which remains very low at 57, 355 miles. There are a number of old V5's also, which provide a charming view of the cars history in the ownership of three ladies. The paintwork gleams beautifully and the interior looks virtually untouched, so well has it been preserved. It is a very pretty little classic which should provide fairly reliable, enjoyable and low budget classic motoring to its next owner.- Our buyers premium on all cars, motorbikes and scooters is 10% + VAT. - We encourage any interested parties to inspect the vehicle on our viewing days and prior to sale on Thursday 2nd to satisfy themselves on the car's condition, please check our buying terms and conditions for cars and bikes available online or via email. - Transportation options may be available, please contact us for a quote.
2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 16v 5-door 4x4 - 5-door 4x4- Bull Bar & side steps- Ten-Spoke option alloy wheels- One keeper for the last 15 years - MOT expires November 2022Launched in 1988 to provide a more substantial multi-terrain capable vehicle than the compact 'Jimny' the Vitara model was universally successful and helped to establish Suzuki as a global market 4-wheel motor manufacturer, having initially been predominantly recognised for 2-wheel motorcycles in the prior decades.Suzuki announced the second generation model in November 1997. Slightly larger, more expensive, and more powerful, it used a light-duty automobile-type rack-and-pinion steering box instead of the recirculating ball truck unit used in the first generation. Most sold in the UK used the ubiquitous 2.0 petrol, although a 1.6-litre GV1600 became available in 2001 but never matched the popularity of the 2-litre.CA02 VAV was registered in July 2002. Specd in metallic silver, it is the 5-door model with 2.0-litre engine, mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. It has 2-WD / 4-WD Transfer Case selector and is optioned with with very smart 10-spoke Suzuki alloy wheels. Other smart features include the relatively subtle front factory bull bar and polished metal side-steps. It is also fitted with anti-shatter privacy glass. The car is reported at being a pleasure to drive and very capable in all conditions. The vehicle is sold with two keys, full V5, Original Service booklet and Suzuki owners wallet. The car was advised with slightly perished CV joints during the latest MOT issued in recent weeks. The vendor has had a garage fit brand new ones and a receipt for such will be included in the history file. The current MOT expires in November 2022.- Our buyers premium on all cars, motorbikes and scooters is 10% + VAT. - We encourage any interested parties to inspect the vehicle on our viewing days and prior to sale on Thursday 2nd to satisfy themselves on the car's condition, please check our buying terms and conditions for cars and bikes available online or via email. - Transportation options may be available, please contact us for a quote.

1951 Kaiser-Frazer Deluxe Custom Coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:99765The Kaiser-Frazer Corporation was the result of a partnership between automobile executive Joseph W. Frazer and industrialist Henry J. Kaiser. In 1947, the company acquired the automotive assets of Graham-Paige, of which Frazer had become president near the end of World War II. Kaiser-Frazer was the only new US automaker to achieve success after World War II, if only for a few years. Joseph W. Frazer left the company in 1949, replaced as president by Henry's son Edgar F. Kaiser.Registered new in 1951 this Kaiser-Fraser Deluxe Custom Coupé is an extremely rare car; the Kaiser Club believe it is one of just 18 Custom Coupés still in existence and it is finished in its original colour of Cape Verde Green with a contrasting cream and green custom made interior. Powered by a 3.8 litre V6 engine mated to a three-speed automatic gearbox the vendor reports that the Kaiser runs and drives very well. The interior presents beautifully and the coachwork retains a deep shine and is complemented by the Coker style white wall wheels and tyres that offer two options of finish, wire or spinner. This Kaiser is a very interesting motorcar that is in very good order throughout and comes complete with a valid MoT test certificate, and the original sales literature and its UK Registration document. This very unique and rare car is a head turner wherever it goes, and we believe it is offered at a very attractive estimate.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

We are advised that no expense was spared in its restoration and the impressive specification includes; fully overhauled 1914 engine with re-white metalled valves and rebored pistons, electric starter, detachable wheels, spare wheel carrier, Rocky Mountain brakes, Ruckstell rear axle, modern ignition system, Hasler front shock absorbers, new radiator, new battery and a new old stock petrol tank. In the current ownership for some twenty years, the vendor currently rates its cosmetic and mechanical condition as “very good”.Launched in 1908, the T's chassis and mechanical components were made from exceptionally durable, high-grade vanadium steel. The Ford also featured a compact 2890cc, sidevalve, four-cylinder engine that pioneered the use of a detachable cylinder head. Mounted in unit with the clutch and two-speed epicyclic gearbox assembly, it developed some 23hp at a leisurely 1,600rpm and 80lbft of torque. Top speed was limited to around 45mph depending upon bodywork, whilst brakes operated on both the transmission and rear wheels. With the introduction of a moving assembly line in 1913, Henry Ford famously turned his Model T into the world's first mass made car. A year later, Model Ts represented 56% of all automobile manufacture in the USA. However, it was not just the sheer volume of Model Ts rolling off the production line that motorised America, it was the inherent quality of the design.Footnote: For more information, please contact:James McWilliamjames.mcwilliam@handh.co.uk07943 584760
Registration No: XWV 967AChassis No: AR383180MOT: ExemptUK supplied Right Hand Drive Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider in current ownership for the last 17 years, purchased through ourselves in 2004Restored for circuit use in 1999 and features Veloce specification engine tuned by Jim Evansaccompanied with invoices totalling just short of £10,000 and a mileage log detailing previous journeys, vehicle mileage and the amount of fuel added to the car. Sporting elegant coachwork designed and built by Pininfarina, the Giulietta Spider was a huge success and continued virtually unchanged in 1.6-litre Giulia guise when the latter joined the Alfa line-up in 1962. Launched at the Monza Autodrome on 27th June that year, the Giulia range was the work of a design team headed by one of the greatest of Italian automobile engineers, Dr Orazio Satta Puliga, who had been responsible for all the post-war Alfa Romeos. The capacity increase boosted maximum power of Alfa's classic twin-cam four from 80 to 92bhp and the car's top speed to 109mph. Reliability was likewise enhanced and the larger engine was noticeably smoother and less fussy. A five-speed gearbox was standard on the Giulia 1600 Spider, which remained in production until 1966. The Giulia Spider is certainly one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos of its day and remains highly regarded now. This right-hand drive Alfa Romeo Guilia Spider originally left the Milanese factory and came to the UK in 1963. In 1999, the car was ‘bare metal’ restored for circuit racing by a previous owner, Jim Avis. Side windows and winder mechanisms were removed, interior stripped and open bodywork sprayed in Ferrari Giallo Fly. The Veloce specification included twin Webers, tubular exhaust manifold, front disc brakes and aluminium fuel tank. Original steel wheels were retained. After just one event though, the racer was acquired by the previous owner in November 1999. 2000 pre-race prep and tuning was entrusted to Tank Barrett of Bewdley, Worcs, and the car was successfully driven to and from six races during the season, at the end of which pre-winter Waxoyl treatment was carried out by Worcester Classic Cars. The engine was in receipt of a 2001-2002 Supercharger Services (Wolverhampton) overhaul with forged pistons, reground crank, ported and polished head, and Jim Evans race/rally cams. In addition, roll-over bar and fire extinguisher were renewed and electric fan fitted. At Donington in 2002, this car beat the near identical ex-Justin Murphy HSCC series winning spider. The calipers were overhauled before the car was sold to the current owner early in 2004. Preparation was undertaken at the Castle Coombe racetrack by Glyn of Circuit Motors Ltd who optimised the Weber twin 40s for road use using a rolling road.XWV 967A was purchased by its current owner in February of 2004 though H&H Classics Stoneleigh Park sale, who enjoyed several road trips, including drives to Switzerland and the the Isle of Man for the 99th anniversary of the TT races. However it has seen very little use in recent years, and is now offered for sale as the owner finds himself with nine points on his driving licence and would like to exchange the car for something more sedate.XWV 967A is offered as somewhat of a ‘rolling restoration project’ following an MOT failure (although exempt) on 01 October 2021. The vendor rates the condition of the paintwork as ‘Poor’, the bodywork, electrical equipment and interior trim as ‘Average’ and the engine, transmission and gearbox as ‘Good’. XWV 967A comes accompanied with an original italian workshop manual, invoices totalling just short of £10,000, a number of previous MOTs dating back to the year 2000 and a mileage log detailing previous journeys, vehicle mileage and the amount of fuel added to the car.Footnote: For more information, please contact:Andreas Hicksandreas.hicks@handh.co.uk07943584762
Registration No: YB03 EDXChassis No: WVWZZZ1JZ3W623236MOT: 08 November 2022Extremely rare Golf V5 model, which makes use of the only V5 automobile engine to reach productionOffered with just 16,737 miles on the odometer, 2 former keeers and an MOT valid until 08 November 2022Accompanied with the service booklet that contains 9 stamps, with the last at 13,967 miles The successor to the MK3, the MK4 Golf was Launched in October 1997 for the 1998 model year. With many variants offered, perhaps unknown but rather interesting is the V5 model. The V5 is mostly remembered for producing some intoxicating sounds and is an incredibly important car in automotive history, making use of the only V5 automobile engine to reach production. This 2.3 L (140 cu in) "VR5" engine manufactured by Volkswagen from 1997 to 2006 was Based on Volkswagen's VR6 engine, the VR5 was a narrow-angle engine with staggered cylinders (three cylinders on one bank and two on the other) sharing a single cylinder head. As per the VR6 engine, the angle between the banks was 15 degrees. The intention of the Golf V5 was to slot above the 1.8L turbo engine but below the high-performance VR6. When it was launched, the V5 produced 148 horsepower which fit nicely between the VR6's 200 horsepower and the 1.8-liter turbo's 134 horsepower. The V5 was then improved in the year 2000 with updated cams and variable valve timing allowing it to produce an impressive 168 horsepower. In today's world it's important to remember unconventional engines, and this is no exception.Manufactured in its final year of production, YB03 EDX is presented in silver with contrasting black leather interior, featuring sports seats and sports steering wheel. An extremely rare vehicle as it stands, this is made an even more exciting proposition with the vehicle’s mileage sitting at just 16,737 and showing only 2 former keepers on the V5 document. YB03 EDX comes accompanied with the service booklet containing 9 stamps, with the last in 2019 at 13,967 miles, as well as the V5 document and an MOT certificate valid until 08 November 2022. The vendor rates the condition of the bodywork, paintwork, transmission and gearbox and interior trim as ‘Good’, with the engine and electrical equipment as ‘Very Good’.Footnote: For more information, please contact:Andreas Hicksandreas.hicks@handh.co.uk07943584762
