1974 Citroën DS 23 Safari Seven Seat Transmission: manualMileage:55510After 18 years of secret development, the DS 19 was introduced on 5th October 1955 at the Paris Motor Show. In the first 15 minutes of the show, 743 orders were taken and orders for the first day totalled 12,000 cars. To a France still deep in reconstruction after the devastation of World War II, the DS was a symbol of French ingenuity. It was the first mass-production car with front power disc brakes. It also featured hydro pneumatic suspension including an automatic self-levelling system, variable ground clearance, power-steering, a semi-automatic transmission and a fibreglass roof which reduced weight. It also sported inboard front brakes as well as independent suspension. Despite the rather leisurely acceleration afforded by its four-cylinder engine, the DS was successful in motorsports like rallying, where sustained speeds on poor surfaces are paramount. It won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1959 and, controversially in 1966, after the disqualification of the BMC Mini Cooper team. The Citroën DS placed fifth on Automobile Magazine's '100 Coolest Cars' listing in 2005. It was also named the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car magazine after a poll of 20 world-renowned car designers. Originally registered on 19th August 1974, this UK supplied, right hand drive Citroën DS 23 seven seat Safari presents in splendid condition. The 2347cc engine runs well and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. These larger engine DS models are delightful to drive, offering a good performance and a ride that is difficult to surpass. Finished in brown with light brown velour interior, this Safari offers a significant load space as well as being very stylish. Supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2024, the original handbook pack and a file containing an original sales brochure, some invoices and old MoT test certificates. These Citroëns are an automotive masterpiece, offering beauty, functionality, and practicality in one package.
1964 Buick Wildcat Transmission: automaticMileage:46000As automobile designers in the USA moved away from the excesses of the 1950s, the 1960s saw a new maturity in design that produced some of the best-looking cars in the history of the industry. Gone were the excessively chromed, bloated and finned bodies; in their place appeared sleek and low-slung machines that emphasised power, speed, comfort and luxury. One of the most successful brands that epitomised this new design language was General Motors' (GM) Buick division, positioned as GM's luxury brand just below Cadillac. In 1963, the Wildcat was launched as Buick's high-performance luxury model. Available in 1964 as a two-door convertible or coupé, and four-door pillared and pillarless sedan, this well-preserved example is a Model 4639 four-door hardtop, one of 17,519 made that year.Supplied new by Broadway Motors in Newbury, New York, this well-optioned Buick was subsequently delivered to its first owner, Mr. Mocko, in July 1964 as a birthday present for his wife. Kept in the family until 2000 with approximately 37,000 miles on the odometer (which is documented in the magazine article that is present in the history file), it was then sold to a Mr. Curley. The Buick was then acquired by Mr. Pierce who accrued another 4,000 miles over his circa ten-year tenure before a Mr. Ulrich of York, PA purchased the vehicle. When Mr. Ulrich could no longer keep the car, it was sold and shipped to the UK in August 2020 and in February 2021, our vendor acquired the Buick with a mere 45,372 miles on the odometer. This Buick Wildcat's specification includes the well-known 325hp 401CI 'nailhead' engine, optional Super Turbine 400 auto transmission, power steering, power brakes, Sonomatic radio, dual speed wipers, tinted windshield, as well as a retro fitted air conditioning system.Recommissioned in March 2021 by UCCS, work included an annual service, grease points, front wheel bearings cleaned and re-greased, brake fluid flushed and replaced, full automatic transmission service, fuel system drained and flushed, coolant system flushed and refilled, new spark plugs, full brake service with new rear brake shoes, four new tyres, four new shock absorbers, a new custom made silencer, wheel alignment and steering adjustment. The bonnet, roof and boot paintwork appear to be original and the interior is in exceptionally original condition. The history file that accompanies the car includes the sales invoice, build sheet, Mr. Mocko's original customer service booklet and handbook and an original 1964 Buick service manual. There are numerous service invoices covering all the years the car was in the USA and a newspaper article describing its history dated November 2000.While it is not uncommon for collectable cars to appear at auction, it is not often that a full-size mainstream saloon that epitomises a particular automotive era is offered for sale, and in such remarkable, original condition. This Wildcat appears in very good running order, is ready to be enjoyed immediately and will provide huge amounts of enjoyment for its new owner.

1911 Ford Model T Tourer Transmission: manualMileage:After spending his formative years as a motor manufacturer experimenting with a variety of models, Henry Ford pared the company's range down to just one - the legendary Model T - destined to become the world's first truly mass-produced automobile. Introduced in October 1908, the Model T boasted a simple 100 wheelbase chassis that contrived to be both lightweight and durable thanks to the pioneering use of vanadium steel. The chassis track width of 56 was the same as that of a horse-drawn wagon, thereby enabling the Model T safely to negotiate rutted dirt roads. The engine was a 20hp four-cylinder sidevalve displacing 2,896cc and the transmission a simple-to-use two-speed planetary unit. It is said that throughout the Model T's 19-year production life the thing that changed most often was the price, although in actual fact Ford made detail improvements to the car on an annual basis. Notable early developments were the adoption of electric lighting in 1915, a switch from brass to a black-finished radiator the following year and the option of an electric starter in 1919. By 1915 Ford had ceased to offer a range of colours, settling on just one - black - because the paint dried quicker, although some dealers began repainting cars in brighter colours after receiving them from the factory. This very good Ford Model T Tourer was first registered in May 1911 in Pennsylvania, USA. The car was purchased by the current owner's late father in the late 1980's at the world's largest classic car show and swap meet which is held every year at Hershey, PA, USA. After importing the Model T to the UK he managed to get the DVLA to re-issue the registration number BX 1555 which was the first number issued in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire and to the current owners grandfather. This Ford has had a few upgrades for safety and ease of use, these include fitting rear brakes, mounting a twelve-volt battery under the car, modifying the lights to electric lighting and fitting an electric starter. At this time the black leather seating was replaced and a new black hood was fitted. Finished in red with black wings, this Model T is supplied with a V5C registration document and a handbook. Please note that the registration BX 1555 is not transferable to another vehicle.

A rare, second-generation, soft top example of Mazda's powerful RX-7 Turbo, freshly recommissioned and looking good - offered at No Reserve. Following the demise of NSU's Ro80, Mazda was left as the only major automobile manufacturer using the Wankel rotary engine. An entire range of rotary-engined models was developed during the 1970s, but by the decade's end, the RX-7 sports car was the only one of its type selling in significant numbers outside Japan. Powered by a twin-rotor Wankel of, nominally, 2.3-litres displacement, the pretty RX-7 coupé had debuted in 1978. Maximum power increased from 105 to 115bhp from 1981 - good enough for a top speed of 125mph, an excellent straight-line performance that the RX-7 combined with handling and grip on a par with European rivals. Restyled for 1986, the second generation car was fitted with a new, more powerful engine and improved rear suspension at the same time. A turbocharged variant was introduced in 1988, becoming available in convertible form the following year, and with 200bhp available was capable of a, claimed, 148mph with the top up.This second generation RX7 Turbo Cabriolet was supplied new by Charles Follett Ltd. in London on 15th May 1992 and is accompanied by a list of older owners up until it was acquired by its previous owner in November 2004 and subsequently our vendor in September 2019. There is a massive invoice file detailing work on the car from 1996 right up to date. (See Summary on file) and the service records indicate regular main dealer servicing up until 2001. Thereafter, work was covered by Rotary Engine Specialists with comprehensive invoices on file including the engine change in January 2005 by Hurley Engineering, a year before it was laid up.More recently, the car was fully recommissioned with all fluids changed and thoroughly examined. Numerous works were carried out which included a thorough overhaul of the fuel system, replacing fuel lines, cleaning injectors, etc., brake lines replaced, callipers refurbished and new OEM Mazda brake discs fitted with new pads, the wheels were refurbished and fitted with new tyres, the hood mechanism was cleaned, lubricated and refitted with a new rear roof section fitted, obtained from America, and underneath some rust was found behind the sills and the interior was stripped for a full repair with rust proofing. The paintwork is generally very good, and overall the car is therefore described by its enthusiast owner to be in excellent condition, having passed it’s MOT with no advisories. The Rotary engine was replaced about 12,000 miles ago and is very sweet. The engine bay is very clean with plated items, etc in excellent condition. It retains the battery cover, often missing. In the boot, the carpet is excellent with the correct tonneau cover, tool roll, wheel chocks and jack. Also present is the original black book pack containing the handbook, service booklet and instructions for the radio cassette. It even has the period Mazda sales brochure and a further service and Owners Manual on CD-Rom. It comes with two correct Mazda keys.A now rare Collectors' item, it is unusual to find one in this condition - an opportunity not to be missed.Specification Make: MAZDA Model: RX-7 TURBO Year: 1992 Chassis Number: JMZFC183200202499 Registration Number: J429 DYK Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 13BE078671 Make: Click here for more details and images
This stunning R-Type was bodied in Aluminium by E.D. Abbott of Farnham in 'Continental' style. Only a handful were created, and offer fabulous styling for a fraction of the cost of the celebrated Fastback Continental. In June 1952, Bentley’s new R-Type was presented to the public and it owed its name to the fact that the VI Series had, by this time, reached the chassis letter 'R'. The new model continued to utilise the MkVI’s independent front suspension, hydraulic front brakes and six-cylinder 'F-head' power unit, by now extended to 4,566cc. The standard R-Type was a lively performer, achieving 106mph in silence and reached 50mph from standstill in ten seconds, despite a curb weight approaching two tonnes. As usual, the R-Type could be ordered in chassis form for bodying by specialist coachbuilders, and this manual transmission example was the work of E.D. Abbott of Farnham, Surrey. The stylish, streamlined, Continental-style fastback coupé coachwork, designed by Abbott's stylist, Peter Woodgate, had been intended for the superseded MkVI chassis and bore more than a passing resemblance to H J Mulliner's contemporary Bentley Continental. After two prototypes had been completed, Abbott bodied 14 'production' cars, this example being the first. Of the remaining 13, one was fitted with automatic transmission and one was built with left-hand drive. We understand that this example was sold new to The Earl of Sefton, bodied in Aluminium and presented as a two-door ‘Continental’ style coupé in Ascot Grey.OYE 700 is accompanied by a fascinating history file which contains a list of previous owners, confirming that the car’s first owner was indeed the Rt. Hon. Earl of Sefton at Croxteth Hall. In 1968 it became the property of Richard Clover from Worcester and, ten years later, it was registered to the Midland Record Company (Peter John Riley). Jeremy Pemberton of Yellowhammer PLC acquired the Bentley in 1990 before selling it in 2004 to specialists dealers Frank Dale and Stepsons who, according to invoices in the file, carried out quite a lot of work on the car. A Michael Percival is listed as owning the car in 2004 with Eric Adkins in 2005, prior to Mr and Mrs Silverstone, also in 2005. The famous car-collecting dentist, Dr James Hull, added it to his Collection in late 2009 and, naturally, it moved to a previous vendor’s significant Collection around 2012 when Dr Hull sold everything. There are a number of older invoices with the car and it appears that by 1985, whilst in Peter Riley’s custodianship, the Bentley was looking a little sad. A.B.Price, Automobile Engineers of Studley provided an 'estimate' dated 4th February 1985 for 'totally stripping coachwork, rebuilding corroded and damaged panelwork, re-cellulosing the car, replacing wood frame in body structure, completely refitting the interior woodwork and reassembling all fittings etc'. The estimate totalled £14,338. Invoices over the next 18 months totalled over £20,000 from A.B.Price and detail the work completed. Later invoices over the years from Frank Dale & Stepsons and Hillier Hill detail subsequent maintenance and repairs, with the most recent one dated 8th October 2011, recording the odometer reading of 50,572 miles. The history file also contains a number of old V5s, a dozen older MOTs, lots of correspondence, the original ‘buff’ logbook, its R-Type Bentley Handbook, an article by Bill Medcalf entitled 'R-Type Continentals' and a booklet titled ‘Twenty Years of Crewe Bentleys’. There is also a letter from Bentley confirming that, should the opportunity arise, they would be delighted to display OYE 700 at the factory as part of 'The Bentley Experience'.OYE 700 is currently owned by a private Collector who has recently spent over £1,200 with DA Cooper in Sussex on some mechanical work to ensure the car is in splendid shape for the next owner. This was the first of the Abbotts of Farnham aluminium-bodied cars, and one can only imagine the sort of attention the 'swoopy' Continental bodywork would have generated back in 1954, matched only by the sort of admiration it would garner in 2023. This car is effectively the same as a manual Mulliner R-Type Continental, but at a fraction of the price, and rarer. Both cars are alloy-bodied and drive identically. We encourage you to view this remarkable piece of automotive art in the metal and to appreciate the sheer quality on offer.Specification Make: BENTLEY Model: R-TYPE COUPE BY ABBOTT Year: 1954 Chassis Number: B393SP Registration Number: OYE 700 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: B446S Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 51171 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
A must-have for any car collector, the genesis of motorised transport. A painstakingly accurate replica in fantastic condition. Karl Benz, the brilliant German mechanical engineer, forever etched his name in the annals of automotive history in 1885 when he conceived and brought to life the world’s inaugural automobile, powered by an internal-combustion engine. Despite the existence of a handful of mechanically propelled contraptions across the globe at the time, it’s the Benz Motorwagen that stands as the indisputable pioneer. This innovative marvel took the form of a tricycle with two imposing rear wheels, propelled by a chain-drive single-speed drivetrain. The engine was equipped with a substantial horizontal flywheel to maintain the rotations churned out by a 954cc single-cylinder engine, delivering an awe-inspiring 0.9 horsepower. With this newfound power, the 3-wheeled wonder could hurtle down the road at an astonishing 16kph, an astounding feat for its era.Remarkably, it was Karl Benz’s wife, Bertha, who played an instrumental role in propelling the Motorwagen into the spotlight. In 1888, she embarked on a pioneering journey, the first documented long-distance trek by a vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine. Her expedition covered approximately 65 miles, spanning from Mannheim to her birthplace in Pforzheim. This arduous odyssey consumed around 13 gruelling hours and was executed without her husband Karl’s knowledge or the blessings of the authorities. The triumphant and well-documented voyage undoubtedly thrust the Benz Motorwagen into the global limelight.Given the international acclaim surrounding the Benz vehicle and Bertha’s historic journey, it was only a matter of time before a plethora of faithful running replicas emerged. Access to the original machine was generously granted, facilitating the acquisition of critical data and measurements, resulting in replicas that were genuine toolroom copies. So authentic were these reproductions that Mercedes-Benz Classic, the custodians of this automotive legacy, themselves commissioned around 100 of them. This serves as a true testament to the manufacturer’s commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the Motorwagen.Today we have the privilege of presenting one such replica, a pristine specimen that has most recently been in esteemed company, sharing its quarters with world-class collection of cars from almost every era of motoring. This offering represents a golden opportunity and is an absolute essential for any discerning collector. It stands as a guaranteed conversation starter and a captivating exhibit, shedding light on the origins of the beloved world of motoring as we know and cherish it today. Although being in running order, It is noted the cylinder drip feed oiler will need replacing before use.Specification Make: BENZ Model: PATENT MOTORWAGEN REPLICA Year: 1886 Chassis Number: TBC Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Single Speed Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Make: LHD Interior Colour: Natural Woood & leather Click here for more details and images
Possibly the most immaculate DeLorean to come to market in recent years. Fully restored, the all-important manual gearbox and just over 1,000 miles from new. Whilst the term 'Iconic' is conferred frequently and often without merit, we are just and correct in bestowing the title upon the DeLorean DMC-12. Instantly recognisable, it was the brainchild of ex-General Motors executive, John DeLorean, perhaps one of the most controversial motor industry figures of all time. The Belfast-based factory was established with £100,000,000 of funding from the British Government under an agreement forged by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher with the support of US President Ronald Regan in order to help the Northern Irish economy suffering from decades of sectarian violence. The DeLorean Motor Company story is a unique entry in the annals of the motor car industry, and the DMC-12 is one of the most recognisable cars of the 20th century.Launched in 1981, the DMC-12’s stylish coupé bodywork attracted international attention by virtue of its method of construction, a combination of fibreglass inner panels, a brushed stainless-steel outer skin and innovative gull-wing doors. The underpinnings were engineered under the guidance of Lotus founder, Colin Chapman. Competing with Porsche and Ferrari, sales never approached projected levels and DeLorean's 1982 indictment on, subsequently acquitted, drugs charges brought the project to its knees. The DeLorean is now seen as highly collectable, thanks in no small part to the Back to the Future movie series immortalising the car in the history books, and manual examples are particularly sought after. The 1982 DMC-12 on offer here is simply immaculate and features a fascinating provenance with a captivating past. Its history file is nothing short of extraordinary, filled with a treasure trove of rare DeLorean artefacts and invaluable pieces of automotive history, both specific to this car and the broader story of DeLorean as a pioneering automobile manufacturer. From rare memorabilia to unique insights into the company's legacy, this collection of history is a testament to the enduring allure of the DeLorean brand. In addition to the car's pristine condition, it was specified with the rare and hugely desirable manual gearbox and has covered a warranted 1,008 miles from new (at the time of cataloguing). First registered in Ohio in 1982, it made its way to the UK in 2016 where it underwent a meticulous and painstaking restoration with a plethora of photos and bills on file documenting the process, and now presents in fabulous condition, running and driving perfectly, flawlessly capturing the allure of its original glory. Our enthusiast vendor has always kept the car in a temperature-controlled garage alongside the rest of his collection of important motor cars, to ensure the car's pristine condition stays exactly as that. Despite being in the UK since 2016, it has never been UK-registered, and is offered with a NOVA Certificate with all taxes paid ensuring minimal time and effort will be required to register the car wherever one may want to keep it.For any automobile enthusiast or collector, this manual DMC-12 is a seldom seen opportunity to own a piece of automotive and cinematic history that has been lovingly restored and presented to perfection. A time capsule of automotive nostalgia, preserved with the utmost care and dedication, making it a truly unique find for those passionate about automotive heritage and the captivating DeLorean legacy, and we welcome your inspection of the car.Specification Make: DELOREAN Model: DMC-12 Year: 1982 Chassis Number: SCEDT26T3C010224 Registration Number: UNREGISTERED Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 1008 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images
