1930 Chevrolet PhaetonMake: Chevrolet Model: Phaeton Year: 1930Mileage: 96957VIN: NRR216Y121Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: BF8303Transmission: manualThis 1930 Chevrolet is a very well-travelled car. According to a 2017 inspection by the American Automobile Club of Great Britain, it was built at General Motors' Oshawa plant in Canada for export to Uruguay in right-hand drive Phaeton (touring body) form. As this body style was in decline, only 1713 were produced during 1930, costing $495. The 50bhp 3.2-litre six-cylinder car seems to have stayed in South America until around 1990, when it travelled to Germany. It came to the UK in 2017 and was allocated the numberplate BF8303 by the DVLA in July of that year. The engine number of R2167191 corresponds to a right-hand drive unit, with a casting date of November 1930, so is believed to be the car's original motor. The history folder includes the V5C, some documentation from Uruguay regarding the shipment to Germany, some German paperwork, some British bills, a copy of the dating letter from the American Automobile Club of Great Britain, HRMC correspondence regarding the car's import into the UK and a photocopy of a book chapter chronicling the 1930 Chevrolet Universal AD Series. The recent invoices include four 19in Waymaster WM30 tyres fitted in 2017 (£460.80), a rebuilt brake master cylinder in 2017 (£111.90) and some engine parts during 2020 ($318.50, from the USA). The charming old Chevrolet looks to still be in original and solid, albeit patinated condition. While the speedometer has been disconnected and removed, it is present with the car and records 96,957 miles.

1977 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 Sports SaloonRegistration no. Not UK RegisteredChassis no. V8/11580/RCAEngine no. V540/1580Odometer reading: 36,839MOT: Exempt *Automatic transmission*Numerous factory options*Present ownership since 2010Introduced for 1973, the Series 3 version of Aston Martin's V8 employed a quartet of Weber 42 DCNF carburettors instead of the previous Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Fuel economy improved and even in automatic-transmission form the Weber-equipped car proved almost as quick as the preceding manual version, being capable of over 145mph flat-out. Originally finished in Rolls-Royce Regency Bronze with fawn interior trim, '11580' was despatched from the factory on 18th January 1977 bound for Aston Martin (Sales) Ltd. Copies of factory records on file reveal that the car was equipped with automatic transmission; two door mirrors; lockable centre armrest; over-riders; Philips AM/FM stereo radio/cassette; side repeater flashers; side marker lights; and two QI fog lamps, while the paint finish is described as 'non-standard'. The Aston's first owner is recorded as Ahmed Abdulla Abdelghani of London, and the original registration as 'PYN 178R'. Later in its life the Aston was registered 'UKE 313R'. The next earliest ownership record extant is a photocopy of a UK V5 dating from March 1998 (by which time the registration had changed to 'UKV 484R') when the car was acquired by Yarnolds of Stratford. The previous owner is listed as one Nicholas Seddon of Oxfordshire (from September 1995). In October 2001 the car was registered as 'J 96996' in Jersey, Channel Islands to Mr Geoffrey Hollyhead (copy Vehicle Registration Document on file). The current vendor purchased '11580' from Mr Hollyhead via Le Riche Automobile (CI) Ltd in May 2010 (bill of sale copy available). This V8 has been on static display for a number of years and as such will require recommissioning prior to road use. 1960 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire SaloonRegistration no. not registeredChassis no. 467727Odometer reading: TBCMOT: N/A*One of the last Armstrong Siddeley motor cars made*Previously registered in the Netherlands*Present ownership since 2016In 1952, Armstrong Siddeley launched the all-new '346 Sapphire' saloon, which had been developed with input from the great W O Bentley. A large, refined six-seater powered by an advanced 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine, the Sapphire was an instant success and set new standards of performance and quality for Armstrong Siddeley. By 1957, sales were in decline and Armstrong Siddeley responded with what would be the final variant, the extensively revised and improved Star Sapphire, the intention being to create an even more effective competitor in the luxury car market. Engine capacity increased to 4.0 litres, a Borg Warner three-speed automatic gearbox was the only transmission on offer, and the Star became the first Armstrong Siddeley to incorporate disc brakes (Girlings at the front). Power assisted steering was standard. So well received was this new model, that the Star was awarded the Gold Medal and the Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Manufacturers 1st Prize award for cars in its price range. Indeed, many knowledgeable enthusiasts consider these Star Sapphires to be the finest of all Armstrong Siddeley motor cars. Manufacture of Armstrong Siddeley cars ceased in 1960 when the company decided to concentrate on the aviation side of its business, by which time only 902 production Star Sapphires had been completed. Today survivors of this elegant model are both rare and highly sought after. Purchased from a Dutch enthusiast in November 2016, this late Star Sapphire comes with photocopies of the purchase receipt; its Netherlands registration document; two service voucher books (blank); and a Dutch magazine featuring the car. The motor car has been on static display for a number of years and as such will require recommissioning prior to road use. Registration No: 982 UYYChassis No: 12110425500239MOT: Exempt1 of just 1,727 examples made during 1955, the first year of productionOffered with owner's manual and parts catalogueSubject to a respray and mechanical fettling over the past three yearsPotentially Mille Miglia Storica eligible The 190SL was introduced in 1955 – the year Mercedes swept all before it on the Mille Miglia with the 300SLR. Indeed, the graceful, new two-door, convertible grand tourer was sold alongside the road-going version of the SLR – the 300SL - whose styling it strongly resembled. In fact, the underpinnings of the two cars were quite different and, while the 300SL had a purpose-built tubular spaceframe (W198), its smaller sibling was built on a shortened version of the ‘Ponton’ saloon (W121) platform, which was of monocoque construction. The 190SL also boasted an all-new engine - an over-square SOHC straight-four unit of 1897cc that produced some 120bhp, which was sufficient to propel the car to a maximum speed of 112mph. The engine was coupled to a manual four-speed gearbox. The suspension comprised double wishbones and coil springs at the front and a coil-sprung swing axle at the rear. Steering was by recirculating ball and braking by power-assisted drums all round. Built to the highest standards and among the quickest comparable cars of the time, the 190SL featured a well-appointed cockpit, notable comfort for its occupants and relatively generous luggage space. Under the circumstances, even the steep asking price of £2,693 did nothing to deter purchasers. Options included a third seat placed transversely behind the front ones which was big enough to carry an adult. The 190SL continued in production until 1963, when both it and the 300SL were replaced by the 230SL (W113). By this time 25,881 190SLs had been produced (just over two percent of which – some 562 cars - were to right-hand drive specification).According to a letter on file from the Homologation Department of Mercedes-Benz Cars UK Ltd, chassis 121042-55-00239 was built in August 1955 to left-hand drive specification and supplied new to America. An Ohio resident for many years, the 190SL was imported to the UK and registered in the vendor’s name during February 2018. Much improved over the last three years, the two-seater has been repainted in Grey Metallic and had attention paid to its cylinder head gasket, seals and heater etc. Treated to a full service and partial brake system overhaul by Wilson Healy Automobile Engineering Ltd of Southport in February 2021, ‘982 UYY’ had its starter motor overhauled just last month.Starting readily upon inspection and sporting an appealing, gently patinated interior complemented by a smart Beige soft-top, this decidedly handsome – and notably early – 190SL is potentially eligible for the prestigious Mille Miglia Storica. Offered for sale with copy State of Ohio title document, V5C Registration Document, Mercedes-Benz Cars UK Ltd letter, reprinted owner’s manual and Catalog C parts book.Footnote: For more information, please contact:James McWilliamjames.mcwilliam@handh.co.uk07943 584760
