Provenance: Gallery and collector stamps, verso. Comment(s): Balla was a highly important and accomplished artist. In his early 30's he taught Divisionist techniques to Umberto Boccioni and Gino Severini. Influenced by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Balla adopted the Futurism style, creating a pictorial depiction of light, movement, and speed. He was one of two American drivers to win the Formula One World Drivers' Championship, and the only one who was born in the United States (the other, Mario Andretti, was born in Italy and later became an American citizen).
