Cape Cod, Massachusetts ([Lot of 2] Map of Cape Cod and Vicinity [and] Automobile Map of Massachusetts. Cape Cod), Walker Lithograpic & Publishing Co., Boston, ca. 1900-08. x ”. (PC) This lot features two automobile maps of the Cape Cod area including Nantucket and Martha`s Vineyard, both published by the Walker Lithographic & Publishing company. The maps display the "best" highway routes in red and show numerous other roads, railroads and abundant coastline. Both maps are dissected and mounted onto linen with brown paper labels. A. Map of Cape Cod and Vicinity, circa 1900, (18.5" x 20.5"). Condition: Light toning and a few minor spots, else very good. (B+) B. Automobile Map of Massachusetts. Cape Cod, dated 1908, (29" x 30.8"). Sa version à cadran bleu deux compteurs sera portée par Steve McQueen dans le film le Mans en 1971 (Sa société de production Solar en commanda une série pour les pilotes du film). Boîtier massif de forme carrée à angles vifs en acier et fond emboîté (système à griffes spécifique au modèle, la référence de l’outil pour ouvrir le boîtier est le n° 033). Cadran gris métallisé (avec marque d’usure) portant le marquage MONACO à 9h en hommage au grand prix de F1. Hugh Cecil Lowther. 5th Earl of Lonsdale 1857-1944. Original envelope sent by Lonsdale to an address at Wellington College, Berkshire dated 19th October 1928. Signed in ink to left hand corner ‘Lonsdale’. To verso ‘Clifton House, Newmarket’. VG Lord Lonsdale was an avid sportsman and was known by some as ‘England’s Greatest Sporting Gentlemen’. He was a founding member of the National Sporting Club and he donated the original Lonsdale belts for boxing. His name was also given to a clothing brand of boxing garments. He enjoyed foxhunting and was a keen football fan, and was Chairman of Arsenal F.C. and later the club’s honorary President. He was known as the yellow Earl for his penchant for the colour and was founder and first president of the Automobile Association which adopted his livery
