This note is actually the number 2 note for issue and was probably turned into a specimen for referencing by Bank officials due to the new design or possibly due to the discovery of the misspelling error. This note was part of the World War II emergency series printed by Emil Pikovsky Zincography in Jerusalem on behalf of the Government printer of Palestine.

Dabbah collection This is the Dabbah plate note p.226. Type II specimen . The second type is issued notes with serial numbers which had been turned by the Bank of Indo-China in Djibouti into specimen notes; the notes were presumably taken from the the reserves of the new issue when they were delivered in 1944-45, probably the first hundred of each denomination which in the absence of true specimens were required for reference purposes for Bank staff and for presentation to officials. The notes were perforated PAYE (paid). This accounted for the notes on the bank books. The notes were also stamped Specimen (in French not overprinted). This stamp quite often on both sides of the note, sometimes only on one side. The cashier number responsible for stamping the notes is also present. The word Specimen is in red in manuscript style and varies in style according to cashiers. Most notes of this type tend to be in uncirculated grade. The notes of that type are of the first 100 notes.(refer to Dabbah pp199-200). The note was part of the World War II emergency series printed by Emil Pikovsky Zincography in Jerusalem on behalf of the Government Printer of Palestine.

An original page , leaf of an antique 16th Century Qur'an , Koran from North India circa 1500 1550. This fine manuscript of unusual design was scribed by Uthman bin al Husain al Waraf in North India in the early to mid-16th Century. The script is Naskhi and is of fine quality with the first, middle and last lines in gold thuluth. Margins have been illuminated with gold vines and some later suras are marked with blue roundels in the margins. It is very similar to the illustration on page 65 of Safadi's textbook Islamic Calligraphy which was dated AD 1538. The volume as a whole was too damaged to repair but most of the leaves have been saved. This is a finely scribed and very good example from a Qur'an , Koran dating back almost 500 years with an identified scribe from North India and measures approx 6cm wide x 9.5cm high, nicely framed (overall size of fame approx 21.5cm x 26cm) and is in very good condition (see photographs)Good condition. Royal Navy and military interest: two 18th century manuscript orders for naval stores for ships berthed in Gibraltar Bay countersigned by Edward Cornwallis, Governor of Gibraltar 1761-76, the first signed by Captain George Balfour of H.M.S. Bienfaisant, "A Demand for Gunners Stores for the use of His Majestys Ship Bienfaisant...27th of Janry 1763...Sweet Oyl [sic] six Gallons...Musquet Rods Fifty"; the second by Captain George Vandeput of H.M.S. Carysfort, "A Demand for Ordnance Stores for the use of his Majesty's Ship the Carysfort...19th of Febr 1769.."; each with other countersignatures and the second endorsed to say that of one requested item ("Drum cords") there are "None in Store". [2]Edward Cornwallis (1713-76) was a scion of a notable aristocratic and military family, whose uncle Charles Cornwallis was to surrender to the forces of the American Revolution at Yorktown in October 1781. Edward Cornwallis himself fought at the battles of Fontenoy and Culloden, and served as Governor of Nova Scotia. In 1756 he was part of the council of war under Admiral Byng which unanimously voted to withdraw from Menorca, a decision which ultimately led to Byng's execution.

Sämtliche Postkarten, der Brief und 1 Gedichtmanuskript (Durchschrift) an Oskar Scheerer, Rosenzüchter und Gartenbaudirektor in Zweibrücken, mit dem Nelly Sachs über Jahre in regelmäßigem Briefwechsel stand. Die Dichterin sendete Urlaubsgrüße, bedankt sich für Buchsendungen und weist auf eigene Werke hin (zu Und niemand weiß weiter : 'Ja dieses Buch ist aus meinen Schmerzen geschnitten. Aber in Ihren Händen wird es Heimat finden'). Während ihrer langwierigen Erkrankungen schrieb Scheerer offenbar Tröstliches, denn Nelly Sachs erwidert: 'Lieber Gärtner im Winter von Trostblumen, ohne die das Leben nun ganz arm wäre mit allem Geschehen. Ja, ich bin krank, aber es wird besser bald', und: 'Sie allein lieber Menschen- und Blumengärtner erraten was man zum Leben gebraucht. "From the middle of the 13th century onwards the Nevilles of Hornby played an important part in the society of the north, being related, albeit distantly, to the Lords Neville of Raby. Sir Robert Neville the elder served as a j.p. in both Lancashire and Yorkshire, where he enjoyed considerable influence by virtue of his prominent position among the region's landowning gentry. His own inheritance comprised at least 14 Yorkshire manors with widespread appurtenances extending out from the Craven area throughout the West Riding and beyond, the castle and lordship of Hornby and the manors of Melling, Middleton, Croston and Mawdesley in Lancashire, and the manor of Appleby (together with the advowson of Thornholme priory) in Lincolnshire. Since he was reputedly able to muster 'an immense multitude' of armed men from among his tenantry and staff at Hornby alone, he was indeed a figure to be reckoned with in the community. Fox Talbot (William Henry) Legendary Tales, in verse and prose, first edition, the author's half-sister's copy inscribed "Henrietta Horatia Feilding ex dono matris" on front free endpaper, with 5-stanza manuscript poem by Fox Talbot written to his half-sister Caroline on her marriage tipped in at end, light water-staining to title, occasional spotting, contemporary red morocco, gilt, spine gilt in compartments, g.e., spine and joints a little rubbed, 8vo, 1830.⁂ William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-77), inventor and pioneer of photography. Through his mother's second marriage to Admiral Charles Feilding he had two half-sisters, Caroline Augusta (1808-81) and Henrietta Horatia (1810-51). Caroline married Lord Valletort, later 3rd Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, on 6th December 1831. Talbot's poem is titled 'Lines to a little bird spreading her wings'.
