ROD: Rare JS Sharpe of Aberdeen “The Wilson International” 8’3” 2 piece staggered ferrule impregnated cane trout fly rod, line rate 5/6, Farlow transfer to butt, dark blue whipped snake guides, tipped gold, bronze ferrule with extension split cane peg, 10” shaped cork handle with light alloy reel rings, fine throughout, in MOB with hang tags.
ROD: Hardy “The Perfection Roach Mk2” 11’ 2 piece Palakona rod, No.H59226, in little used condition, clear agate butt/tip guides, burgundy space whipped intermediates, bronze ferrule, 19” trumpet cork handle with light alloy reel rings, butt cap and red rubber button, fine throughout, in MOB.
ROD: Fine bamboo and greenheart 15’ 3 piece plus spare tip dapping rod with maker’s 19” hollow bamboo extension, 4 leg butt ring, snake intermediates, all whipped black, bamboo butt and mid-section, matching twin greenheart tips with copper whipped top guides, bronze ferrules, wood stoppers, superb decorative example, in original cloth bag.
ROD: Farlow London “The Midge” 6’ 2 piece split cane brook trout fly rod, in fine condition, 1 7/8 oz. casting weight, Farlow transfer, full bridge butt ring, blue whipped snake intermediates, bronze ferrule, alloy stopper, 7” shaped cork handle with light alloy reel rings and butt cap, fine, in MOB.
HARDY PATTERN ROD: Hardy Crown Houghton 10’6” 3 pc Palakona trout fly rod No E11552, August 1928, in used condition, red agate butt and tip guides, single tip, burgundy close whipped, bronze lock fast ferrules, 9” shaped cork handle, alloy up screw reel fitting with reversible butt spear, alloy tip tube and MOB. The rod was gifted to the late owner William John Laidlaw by one of the Hardy family after fishing on the Whiteadder near Chirnside, (letter recounting details included). Additional letter from Hardy bros dated 1986, notes “In our records it has Pattern” written, which means it was made as a pattern rod for future reference. Obviously LRH must have “borrowed it for his own use.” Interesting time capsule story with W J Laidlaw memoriam.

RODS (2): DJ Bell of Morpeth “The Coquet” 12’ 3 piece split cane salmon fly rod, burgundy close whipped guides, bronze ferrule, 20” cork handle, used, in MOB and a JB Walker Newcastle 9’6” 2 piece split cane trout fly rod, green whipped low bridge guides, gold silk intermediates, bronze ferrule, 8” cork handle with up screw reel seat, fine, in MOB.
ROD: Scarce Fosters of Ashbourne “Border Greased Line” 12’ 3 piece split cane fly rod, in as new condition, green whipped low bridge guides, close whipped throughout, bronze ferrules, wood stoppers, 17” slim cork handle with sliding upper and 4 screw fixed lower reel fittings, alloy butt cap with black rubber button, in MOB.

RODS (2): Early PD Malloch of Perth 14’ 3 piece plus correct spare tip greenheart salmon fly rod, spliced joints, red agate butt/tip guides, snake intermediates, black whipped, joint protection pegs, 24” sheet cork handle with bronze fittings, brass butt cap stamped with maker’s details and rod No.7156, fine, in MOB with decorative label and a similar Walker Bampton of Alnwick 13’ 3 piece with correct spare tip, spliced joint, greenheart salmon fly rod, with protector pegs, eyes rewhipped green, 23” cork handle with Hardy style refits, in MOB.
REELS (6): Collection of 6 JW Young Ambidex casting reels incl. 2 x No.1 models, in bronze with half bail, fixed crank arm, a No.2 model black finish, half bail, solid crank arm, 2 x casting reel, models in bronze, one half bail, one 2 piece full bail and a further casting reel with folding handle, 2 piece bail, good finish, all working order.
