Over four years of racing he won fourteen out of fifteen races. Notable wins were Doncaster St.Leger (1849); Epsom Derby (1849); Ascot Gold Cup (1850); 1851 match race beating Voltigeur (considered to be one probably the greatest match race in the history of British thoroughbred racing.
