After Clement Masier 1847 - 1932 Cast Bronze Figure Group - Titled ' The Civilisation of America ' Depicts Three Figures of a Woman Holding a Laurel Wreath and a Scepter, a Woman Holding a Sheath of Wheat and a Bare Breasted Woman Riding a Buffalo Holding a Curved Staff In The Centre, to The Right Is a Seated Figure of a Native American Holding a Spear with a Quiver of Arrows at His Feet. Signed In Cast to The Back Right Corner ' Masier ' Supported on a Polished Marble Base. Size - 13.5 Inches - 34 cm Wide, 15 Inches - 37.5 cm High & 8.5 Inches - 22 cm Depth.
Mathurin Moreau (French 1822 - 1912) Patinated Bronze Figure Group Le Printemps (Springtime) Signed 'Mathurin Moreau / Sculpt' and numbered '11571' Cast circa 1900; along with Exposition Universelle, Medaille d'or, 1889 medallion and Gervais foundry mark to back. Raised on rotating socle, depicting a pair of Arcadian lovers amongst spring flowers and foliage. Height 26 inches, excellent condition with wonderful patina, please see accompanying imageAthurin Moreau, son and student of Jean-Baptiste Moreau, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts Paris. Moreau worked on numerous public monuments and was noted as a sculptor of classical and allegorical subject matter, as well as producing a series of large decorative bronze statuettes and busts of his contemporaries. He was regularly praised for his Salon contributions and obtained a number of distinctions, including a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle.
