An Oriental bronze baluster vase late 19th / early 20th century, with elephant mask loose ring handles, everted rim and integral pierced stand, inlaid in various metals with scenes of figures on a terrace and on horseback beside a lake within shaped reserves on an engraved diaper ground, a band of inlaid lingxhi fungi to the shoulder and calligraphy and figures beneath a key fret band to the neck, the foot inlaid with fruiting vines and engraved with insects, 10in. (25.5cm.) high.
Antiquities - A Luristan bronze short sword or dagger c.1200-800BC, the handle and blade cast in one piece with green encrusted patination all over, the tapered blade fullered to the edges, the shaped handle flanged to the edges and with pin to the terminal to secure inlay, hole for a second pin towards the blade (missing), with waisted grip and flared terminal, engraved toothed decoration to the grip, 14¼in. A collection of four Luristan bronze mace heads comprising an archaistic cast bronze mace head of bulbous form, decorated with eight alternating high and low knops with circular engraving, flared socket, nice patination, 3¼in. (8.2cm.) high; a slightly tapering truncheon form mace head featuring four vertical rows of five spikes above three equidistant ribs, 6in. (15.2cm.) high; a three section cast bronze mace head, the upper section decorated with three vertical rows of four spikes separating three ridged columns, the smaller central area bearing similar three spike decoration, plain lower section above three horizontal ridges and flared rim, 7¼in. (18.3cm.) high; and a slightly tapering cylindrical form cast bronze mace head, wheatsheaf design above plain lower section, three ridged collar above flared rim socket, 8in. (20.3cm.) high, on a wooden stand. See Illustration
A hallmarked silver March 1908 Hamstead Colliery Disaster medal, presented to Frank Adams, awarded for 'conspicuous bravery in attempting to rescue the entombed miners'. In original case, one side with scene of a miner being rescued. 47 medals in total were awarded in relation to the disaster, of this type there were 24 gold, 16 silver and two bronze, the medal comes with a list of the recipients and their positions. A late 19thC French bronze inkwell and stand, the urn shaped reservoir with mask head receptacle and enamelled lining to the mouth and reservoir interior, with detachable cover, the circular dish shaped stand cast with classical portrait medallions and with an inner band of classical figures of Pan, 25cm diameter.
