A Chinese archaic bronze ritual wine vessel, jue, Western Zhou dynasty, the U-shaped body supported by three blade-form legs, the single loop handle emanating from the mouth of a beast mask, the rim issuing a pair of posts surmounted by elongated flared caps, cast to the exterior with two taotie masks on a leiwen ground, the underside of the spout cast with a pair of dragons, 21.2cm highcf. A group of five Chinese and Tibetan metal wares, 19th century, comprising: a small bronze standing Guanyin, 6.7cm high; a small 'cockerel' weight, 3.2cm high; a circular bronze tripod incense burner, 7cm wide; a Tibetan 'lion' joss stick holder base, 10cm high; and a white metal reticulated two-part belt buckle with inset turquoise, 12cm wide (5)十九世紀 中國、西藏銅、鐵器一組General expected surface wear and casting imperfections; the incense burner with 5mm diam. circular repair at time of manufacturing to base; some verdigris or other agent to both belt buckle and incense burner; the joss stick holder with denting to edges, approx. 26mm wide bruise to front of base with associated cracks, loss to tail and loss to pinprick, as well as some bruising to edge of the bowl.
A Chinese bronze bellied vase, 18th century, of slightly compressed bulbous form supported by a splayed foot, the short neck with a pair of loop handels attached to the sides, the exterior covered with patina of reddish brown colour, 12.5cm high十九世紀 銅雙活環耳瓶Surface patina of reddish brown colour. A bronze medal,commemorating the Battle of Texel and the death of Admiral Maarten Harpertszoon Tromp, 1653, depicting Admiral Tromp in a collar and doublet, the obverse a battleship in a naval engagement dated '1653',7cm diameter, together with a turned boxwood box and cover (3)Condition ReportWe are unable to guarantee that the medal and case began life together, however there is wear to the velvet lining on both sides which corresponds to the raised areas of the nose and stern of the ship on the medal, where there are also areas of rubbing to the patina, which suggest that the medal and case have been together for some time.
