A mid 20th Century stuffed and mounted Sparrowhawk with Thrush prey set on a grassy covered rock set in a four sided glass display case CONDITION REPORTS This is a Sparrowhawk, not a Merlin. The glass is very dusty and has stains and marks. The wood surround has some scratches and scuffs. The case is not original for the bird. There is some glue visible beneath the false rocks. The thrush's eye has gone cloudy. The glass top comes loose from the base of the case. Some ruffled feathers on both birds. White powdery substance visible on both birds. Some signs of insect inhabitance. General signs of wear and tear throughout. See images for further details.

A flat-section rectangular mount with recessed panel and knotwork motif, ribbed collar and Style II profile raven-head, tip of beak absent, with band to the brow and pellet eye with c-shaped surround; remains of stud to the reverse. 5.17 grams, 34mm (1 1/2"). Found Cambridgeshire, UK; 2015. See discussion of bird of prey images used as amuletic shield mounts in Dickinson, T.M. Symbols of Protection: The Significance of Animal-ornamented Shields in Early Anglo-Saxon England in Medieval Archaeology vol.49, 2005. Very fine condition. Rare.
17th century AD. A D-section hoop with moulded skull and rosette shoulders with black enamel detailing supporting a knopped quatrefoil bezel depicting a three-quarter facing skull in white and black enamel against a black field with a circular surround showing the Roman capital 'BEHOLD THE ENDE' inscription inlaid in black enamel; the outline of the quatrefoil and cross detailing to the knops also inlaid. 6.89 grams, 23.36mm overall, 20.06mm internal diameter (approximate size British U, USA 10¼, Europe 22.75, Japan 21"). (1"). Property of a Surrey lady; acquired by her grandfather in the late 1970s as part of a small collection acquired from Cheshire. Supplied with a positive X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate. Cf. Dalton, O. M., Franks Bequest: Catalogue of the Finger Rings, British Museum, London, 1912, no.1450 for a similar example. Very fine condition; slight loss of enamel. Very rare.

A Rare WWII Jet Altimeter, this jet altimeter was fitted to a prototype Gloster Meteor Jet secretly tested in WWII. The dial of the meter is stamped 13594/42 which is the Air Ministry part nr and the year manufactured or serviced. Also marked SR/43 & 6A/695 on the dial and has the Air Ministry crown and AM moulded into the rear casing plus the word 'CAL' (calibrated), fitted into a wooden surround/stand.
