The company was founded in 1873, when a multinational consortium of investors purchased a mine complex on the Rio Tinto, in Huelva, Spain, from the Spanish government. From 1877 to 1891, the Rio Tinto Mine was the world's leading producer of copper. William Rich Esq., was the General Manager of the mines for Rio Tinto Company's Mines from 1886 leaving in 1900.

GIORGETTI; a contemporary dining room suite, comprising shaped rectangular dining table with bevelled inset glass top and raised on pierced support united by a cross stretcher, six dining chairs with interwoven pierced backs (6+2), a sideboard and a serving table (10). CONDITION REPORT: Table: Minor scratches and scuffs to outer surround, some scratches to glass, scuffs to legs and feet with some very small patches of staining missing. Serving table has been under sunlight and so top has faded substantially. Upholstery of chairs needs to be cleaned, scuffs to chair legs only minor. This lot has been generally well looked after.

A SINGLE ROW GRADUATED NATURAL PEARL NECKLACE the pearls graduate to a clasp centred with an old brilliant-cut diamond within a surround of rose-cut diamonds, 52cm. long. Accompanied by report number 5777-7932 from GCS dated 25th November 2016 stating that the one hundred and seven pearls graduate from 3.5 to 6.1mm. approximately and that all are natural saltwater pearls.

A CITRINE AND PEARL SET BROOCH the heart-shaped brooch is centred with a citrine mounted with a pearl set flower motif, within a surround of small pearls, in gold, 2.8cm. wide, together with an amethyst circular brooch mounted with a gold and pearl star motif within a surround of paste stones, in gold, 2.5cm. dia., a paste set pendant and a circular portrait brooch.
A VICTORIAN ENAMEL, PEARL AND DIAMOND HEART-SHAPED LOCKET PENDANT the blue enamel heart is centred with a double heart motif mounted with rose-cut diamonds, within a white enamel and gold border and an outer surround of small pearls, on a gold chain mounted with blue enamel batons and small pearls, with locket compartment to the reverse, the pendant 2.5cm. wide.
AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY SAPPHIRE, DIAMOND, TOURMALINE AND PEARL SET PENDANT centred with a hexagonal pale blue sapphire within a rose-cut diamond surround also set with small pearls, suspending a pear-shaped pink tourmaline drop and with an oval pink tourmaline surmount, on a fine link gold chain, the pendant 5cm. long.
