The pins holding it to the lid do not correspond with the pierced holes, if indeed these were originally intended to hold them. Portrait to underside has some rubbing. The hinge is in good condition. The tortoise shell generally is of good condition. Two insect (possibly silverfish) marks to front of box. Lid closes well. Tortoise shell is in surprisingly good condition considering the age and may be replaced. It seems strange that there is wear to the portrait of the king underneath yet no significant wear to the tortoise shell. The hinge bracket is not perfectly centred to the panel of the lid.

A THREE ROW NECKLACE OF CULTURED PEARLSThe front with a diamond and emerald oval panel, the oval emerald mounted within a surround of twelve cushion shaped diamonds, on a gold plain oval clasp, length of necklace including clasp 38cm, gross weight 37.7 gmsCondition Report: The front panel is of an early 19th century design, but is of later date reproducing this design. The emerald is of medium colour saturation, it may be foil backed, the setting to this is closed at the back. The surrounding diamonds are of varying old cuts, some are drawing colour to varying degrees and some have a few internal inclusions. They are open backed.Size of front panel is 20mm x 18.6mm. The snap clasp is also a reproduction of an earlier design. The cultured pearls are not individually knotted, they are only of average quality, with generally quite a lot of irregularity and marks to the surfaces.

The majority appear to be rubies. The ring is detailed '18ct'. The moonstone is a bit rubbed and scratched, otherwise quite good condition =. Ring would benefit from professional cleaning.
Delépine-Barrois, an engraved carriage clock: the eight-day duration movement having a platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with push button repeat sounding the last hour at will, the backplate stamped with the hand setting arrow as used by the Delépine family and numbered 829, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals, blued steel moon hands and with an engraved gilded surround, the engraved Gorge case with swing handle, height 15cms handle up, 13cms handle down.* Biography Delépine-Barrois were a partnership between Ludovic Delépine and his wife Marie Barrois, the step-daughter to the horologist Sauteur of Paris and Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont, the horological town where Marie met and married Ludovic Delépine in 1884. The Delépine-Barrois business became one of the finest carriage clock producers of the late-Victorian period before selling the large house and workshops to Couaillet in 1914.
