RMS Titanic Disaster - a rare and unique Italian oil on board panel painting titled ' Angela Gravina - Salva Per Miracolo Nel Disastro Del Titanic - 15 April 1912 ' (Angela Gravina - Miraculously Saved In The Titanic Disaster). The painting depicts RMS Titanic slipping beneath the waves, whilst several survivors surround in both the water, and a lifeboat. Icebergs surround the scene, as well as a distant sail boat. A depiction of Jesus is seen to the corner, and a central figure is raised (as if flying) to the centre. One figure in the water has a hand-drawn arrow pointing to her (presumably this is Gravina). The painting has unfortunately suffered some loss over the years with one corner particularly affected. It appears to have been later varnished to protect any more paint from coming away. Little is known about 'Angela Gravina' who also may just be Angela FROM Gravina (a region of South Italy). A rare and unusual piece of White Star Line / Titanic memorabilia. Measures approx; 28cm x 45cm.
