He established his own workshop in Hatton Garden to design and create silverware. In 1982 he opened his first shop in Chelsea`s Fulham Road. Fennell experimented across a broad spectrum of design, all the upholding the belief that jewellery and silverware can be irreverent as well as beautiful, and exhibiting a scrupulous eye for minute detail.

Original plain wrappers, stapled (light soiling, spotting and marginal staining, spines beginning to split). 106 lithographic plates (most approx. 207 x 281mm) on 104 sheets, hand-coloured and most heightened with gum arabic, printed on card and mounted within gilt rule surround. (Two large tears to plate 53, one half way through the plate, no. 54 mount heavily stained and plate spotted, most plates clean and fine with occasional light spotting affecting mounts only, plates to vol. III more heavily spotted and soiled.) Contained in the original publisher's morocco-backed portfolios, lettered in gilt to upper covers (worn, dampstained, flaps sometimes defective and missing, lacking silk ties). Victorian silver trophy cup of classic form, acanthus scroll surround to the plain body, leaf capped scroll handle, knopped stem leading to a circular footed base. Hallmarked Elkington & Co (Frederick Elkington) London 1876. Height measuring 14 inches (36 cm), weight 39 ozt (1223 grams). Condition: Overall the trophy cup would benefit from a clean and polish with noticeable surface tarnishing, there are generals scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The trophy has been previously engraved, a presentation engraving just visible to one side-however the metal does not feel thin as common place with the removal of engravings it is therefore likely the engraving has been filled. There are some small shallow dents around the body. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
