A Regency carved giltwood circular convex mirror:, surmounted by a figure of an eagle with wings outspread, perched on a tapered fluted platform and flanked by dolphins, the plate within an ebonised reeded slip and moulded and reeded surround with acanthus decoration at the base, 87.5cm (2ft 10 1/2in) x 50cm (1ft 7 3/4in).

Josh Penford, London. a walnut and floral marquetry longcase clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell with an inside countwheel, the 10½ inch square brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute outer numerals, 'meeting-arrow-head' half-hour markings and signed either side of VI o'clock with the maker's name Josh. Penford, London, the matted dial centre having a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture with engraved decoration to the surround and ringed winding holes, the cast-brass 'cherub-head' spandrels to the four corners having engraved floral decoration between and decorative blued steel hands, the walnut veneered case with panelled marquetry decoration to the trunk door and base, with further marquetry inlay to the trunk and a lenticle glass to the door, the flat-top hood with three-quarter pillars having cast brass capitals and marquetry inlay to the door, the base with a later applied plinth, with a pair of brass cased weights, height 213cms.* Biography Joshua Penford (sometime Penfold) is recorded as being apprenticed in London in 1684 to the Quaker clockmaker Francis Stamper 'At the Golden Ball in Lombard Street', becoming a Freeman of the Clockmakers Company in 1695.
John Sampson, Penzance, a mahogany longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the 11½ inch arched brass dial having a silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals and outer Arabic five-minute markings, with the maker's name John Sampson, Penzance either side of VI o'clock, the matted centre having a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture with engraved decorative surround, with decorative blued steel hands and cast-brass 'urn' spandrels to the four corners, the arch having a silvered boss engraved with a Ho-ho bird above the latin words Tempus Fugit, with cast-brass 'dolphin' spandrels to each side, the mahogany case with inlaid stringing to the hood, trunk and base, the hood having a swan-neck pediment with brass paterae and ebonised fluted columns with cast-brass capitals, all standing on bracket feet, height 206cms.* Biography John Sampson is recorded as working in Penzance from at least April 1752 when he advertised for 'any young man bred in the clock and watchmaking way wanting employment'. A set of four 17th Century carved walnut dining chairs:, the high cane panel backs with shaped foliate scroll and husk crestings, central shield with painted heraldic bearing and turned uprights with urn finials, the cane panels within husk, flowerhead and paterae blind fret surround, the cane panel seats on foliate scroll front legs, united by a high foliate scroll front stretcher with central armorial shield.
A late 19th Century French kingwood, parquetry, marquetry and gilt metal mounted vitrine:, of breakfront outline with acanthus decorated cornice and cushion frieze with channel moulded banding, enclosed by a central bevelled glazed panel cartouche-shaped door with scale and foliate cresting, moulded surround with C-scroll acanthus spandrels and with a parquetry panel below with raised central urn of flowers and foliage flanked by floral marquetry garlands in diagonally banded surround, having similar glazed and parquetry panels to either side and with shaped projecting angles headed with sculptured female classical masks, C-scrolls, shells and foliage, the shaped apron base with central mask and acanthus, on splayed lions claw and acanthus sabots, 173cm (5ft 8in) wide, 180cm, (5ft 10 3/4in) high.
Late 19th century German bracket clock with eight day movement striking on a gong, signed - Lenzkirk AGU, gilt metal break arch dial with overlaid pierced floral panels, matted centre, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and separate slow / fast regulator, in a walnut veneered case, with blue silk-lined pierced metal side frets and carved decoration, caddy top with five gilt metal flame finials, on carved paw feet, 43cm overall height (pendulum present and door key, winding key lacking) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition good, movement is clean and appears to be in working order. Dial is good, some damage to silvering on main chapter ring and subsidiary dial, hand slightly worn, dial surround scuffed, case generally good, some minor damage to veneer on top and one side, one side panel cracked, left front corner on edge below finial has been repaired, gilding on side frets and rear door panel is worn
