A VICTORIAN GOLD AND BLACK ENAMEL MOURNING LOCKET PENDANT the central panel of black enamel embossed with a flower set with rose-cut diamonds, within a gold surround of foliate and engine turned decoration, the locket opens to reveal a circular compartment containing hair and inscribed Saml Lord died 16 Jan 1833 aged 51, 3cm. dia., together with a gold long guard chain, 140cm. long, 34 grams.
AN ARTS AND CRAFTS SILVER OPENWORK FOLIATE PENDANT centred with an oval blister pearl, the foliate surround is set with rock crystals and pear-shaped green paste stones, with further green pastes set to the silver chain, 5cm. dia. In fitted case by Mr. & Mrs Arthur Gaskin. Arthur (1862-1928) and Georgie Gaskin (1866-1934) were members of the Birmingham Group of Artist-Craftsmen, which sought to apply the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement across the decorative arts. The Gaskins started to produce jewellery from 1899 under the name Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Gaskin.
