A rare pair of Spode twin handled vases. Gilt ground and enamelled all over with flowers and with pearls to the rims. Unmarked c1820, 13.25cm (2). Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Hair crack to the rim of on with a small patch of gilding re touched on this area. Other slight patches of gilt loss. No other damage and free from repair.
An early 19th century oval Spode plaque in black basalt frame by Stephen Lawrance. Finely painted with fruit on a table. Signed to the reverse and dated July 19th 1815, 21.75cm total width. Note; Lawrance is known for his fine flower painting at Spode and appears in the pattern books, fruit painting by the artist appears to be an uncharacteristic study. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Good condition some pitting visible on the back. There is a purple line through the artists signature in an attempt to hide the identity of the artist. The practice of signing work was generally not approved of by 19th century china factories.
