A garniture of three Spode match pots circa 1821-23 of shape, each pot applied with three bands of beaded white pearls, decorated with panels of brightly painted shells and coral, the reverses gilded with formal grotesque motifs including birds and baskets, painted 'Spode' in iron red and marked with pattern number 3236, 11.5cm high and 16cm high (3) Provenance: With H.Blairman, purchased in May 1928 for £27.10s. Exhibited: Spode-Copeland 1765-1965, Frankfurt 1965, catalogue fig.37, also Spode Bicentenary Exhibition 1970, no.290. Illustrated by Leonard Whiter, Spode (1970), pl.279. A Copeland Spode part tea service, pattern no. 9211, decorated in the Imari palate.Condition ReportOne cup has a small chip to the rim and associated hairline crack; one saucer has a minor nick to the underside and another saucer has two minor nicks and one has a crack to the centre; there is a glued repair to the cover of the sugar bowl, bowl good; teapot good condition; milk jug good condition. There is some crazing to the glaze and some minor rubbing to the gilt in places.
