A collection of vintage 20th century China comprising of a part dinner service by Spode Midas together with a Royal Worcester Corinth Gold dinner service. All having a white background with scalloped edges and gold detailing. The service comprises of 10 large plates, 8 side plates, 10 soup bowls, 7 dishes.
A Chinese export blue and white moonflask, of typical flattened circular form, having twin dragon handles, the opposing panels underglaze blue decorated with various entertainers, h.21cm; together with a 19th century Spode bowl, blue and white transfer decorated in the Chinese style, within gilt borders, having printed mark verso, dia.23.5cm; and one other blue and white bowl of scalloped circular form, with a border of flowers, dia.27cm (3)Condition report: Moon flask: large firing crack to chilong, otherwise ok.Spode: Glazed scratched to the interior, otherwise ok.Dish: cracked.
An early 19th century two-handled Spode porcelain dessert dish; hand gilded and individually decorated with botanical subjects 'Onion-leav'd asphodel & Verginian Rhucia', together with two further, smaller boat-shaped dishes also individually decorated 'Rosa Vulgaris Cuscuta Verrucosa' and 'Bindweed St. John's Wort' (the larger two-handled bowl 28cm) (3)Condition Report: The larger two-handled bowl - some minor discolouration to the inside of the bowl which looks like it would clean away easily. The handles look to be in good condition, some minor marks and blemishes to underside of big bowl but nothing concerning. Clearly signed and named to the underside. The gilding around the edge exhibits minor scratches and small pinhead sized pieces away commensurate age and usage. The first of the boat-shaped dishes (St John's Wort) has a good foot rim to the underside, gilding is good; the second of the plates decorated with pink roses also looks good with no major chips, cracks or restorations noted. Overall - good condition for age.
