Copeland & Garrrett late Spode Felspar porcelain bowl & dish: Backstamps also indicates 'Serjeants Inn C.L.' Serjeant's Inn (formerly Serjeants' Inn) was one of the two inns of the Serjeants-at-Law in London. The Chancery Lane inn dated from 1416. Both buildings were destroyed in the 1941 bombing raids during World War II. The C.L. on the backstamp standing for Chancery Lane. Circa 1830's - 40's. Some light wear to areas gilding.
An assortment of ceramics to include a hand-decorated Spanish dish, an early 20th century Copeland late Spode Jasperware-style jug, an early 19th century lozenge-shaped dish hand-decorated with sprigs of flowers (damaged), an early 20th century Royal Doulton series ware two-handled jug with a Dutch scene, a Doulton Lambeth stoneware beaker with hallmarked silver rim and an early 20th century Coalport vase decorated in the Japanese aesthetic taste (selection)
A selection of various decorative plates and dishes to include a Spode bone-china plate, 'Full Cry' after J F Herring; a Royal Worcester trio decorated with Chinese-style figures and a leaf-shaped dessert dish, the handle as a bow and centrally decorated with a floral spray in enamels (8)The yellow trio with the lot number no firstly is Royal Worcester retail by T Goode & Co - the bottom plate is good condition-wise, no major problems. The cup and saucer looks good all the gilding seems to be reasonable and the enamel paintwork is quite bright with minor scratching but nothing dramatic to report. There is an early 19th century tea bowl saucer decorated loosely in a Chinese style - that has some rubbing to the exterior decoration and turning over to the underside there is star crack which is only really visible from the underside and that star crack runs the diameter of the foot rim but does not extend to where the bowl is pitching upwards. The 19th century leaf-shape dessert dish decorated beautifully in enamels with a floral sprig and with a Blanc de Chine style border of similar fruits and flowers in relief and a red highlighted bow - that looks in good condition, no problem with chips or hairlines etc. A series ware style plate of Modern English Bone China by Fenton China Co decorated with a coaching scene is in good condition. There is Spode Bone China plate decorated with a hunting scene 'Full Cry' after the original painting by J F Herring Snr - also in good order. A dragooned gilded border surrounding a powder blue border and decorated with a hunting scene - all good condition wise. A plate transfer-decorated with a scene of cattle watering - in the Auctioneers opinion it is not particularly old but in good condition and one further early 19th century style bowl decorated and gilded in the Japanese Aesthetic taste etc with bamboo - there is some scratching to the surface of the inside of the plate and some gilt rubbing which is noted otherwise all good.
A good selection of pewterware including 19th century examples: two jelly moulds, various tankards to include a large lidded tankard with engraved glass base and an unusual musical tankard commemorating Edward VIII; together with ceramic plates to include a set of six Crown Staffordshire plates, each with gilding against a mid-green ground, and a pair of Copeland Spode Indian Tree style plates (selection)
