(Political Commemorative commemorate) 1826 General Election: a good Spode documentary pearlware jug of large size printed in blue with the Tower pattern and inscribed ‘Lord Anson for Ever Huzza 1826’ beneath the spout, the underside initialled ESM, 259mm* Most probably George Anson, born 1797 who fought at Waterloo and was MP for Great Yarmouth from 1818 until 1835. In the 1826 general election, together with fellow Whig Charles Rumbold, they both polled nearly 400 votes more than the conservative Edmund Lacon. (Revised footnote).
