Wrytinge concerninge the Cocke and Hoope in Shoreditch concernynge 9 acres of ground concerninge the Lambe in Shoreditch, manuscript, 3pp., folds, browned and stained, repaired with tissue, 355 x 153mm., docket 1629. The Cock and Hoop and Lamb were two messuages bounded on the west by the high road, on the east by "the comon "waie theare leadinge towards Hackney" (i.e., Cock Lane), and on the south by "the comon lane theare called Cocke Lane" (i.e., probably New Inn Passage, formerly Dirty Lane). In 1615 they were still two houses, (fn. 59) but by 1636 (fn. 60) they had grown to nine, obviously by the expedient of building along the side and in the rear.

A 19th century Indian decagonal papier mâché box and cover, pressed and picked out in colours with ornate foliage in compartments, the interior painted with flowers on a red ground, the cover applied with a manuscript paper label From Mabel Currie to G.E.F., In Memory of Lady Currie, 19cm high, 26cm wide Mary, Baroness Currie (née Montgomerie Kamb of Beauport Park, East Sussex) (1843-1905) [pseud. Violet Fame] was a British novelist, poet and essayist. She married Henry Sydenham Singleton in 1864 and later married, after being widowed, Sir Philip Currie (later Baron Currie) in 1894. Lord Currie was Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire from 1889 to 1893 and then Ambassador to Rome from 1898 to 1903, where Lady Currie lived with him.
KORAN : illuminated manuscript in filigree gold box - leather backed floral covers, 89 x 57 mm, A.H. 1246 [1830 A.D]. * The calligrapher's name is indistinct, it may be Shah Umm Salma, the daughter of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, women calligraphers are extremely rare. This pocket Qur'an produced in the Qajar period for travellers and pilgrims, is of the finest quality, the text pages with black lettering with gold accents and borders, the lavish illuminations at the beginning incorporates prayers, the opening of the Qur'an and index.
KORAN : Illuminated manuscript, 410 pages, 221 x 141 mm, cont. red gilt morocco, with matching doublures, gilt edges, with flap, A.H. 1293 [1876 A.D]. * The caligrapher Yayya Hilmi "Efendi", the illumination is of outstanding quality, including a magnificent double frontispiece, decorated in two tones of gold, light green and pale blue. Each panel of text is within a thick gold border with decorations in the margins. The tissue guards protecting the frontispiece are also exquisitely illuminated. This manuscript belongs to the Court style of Ottoman manuscripts, made as gifts and endowments. It was therefore most probably produced in Constantinople.

The manuscript indicates the readiness of the militias defending the south and western coasts of England from the much feared French invasion. The risk of which diminished at this time, with Nelson's victory at Trafalgar in October 1805.

Jackson, Rev. Canon John Edward, editor. The original manuscript of Wiltshire Topographical Collections by John Aubrey, 'With Notes, Additions and Illustrations' by Jackson. Published by the Wiltshire Archaeological and natural History Society, Devizes, 1862, 7 volumes, comprising rough ms. notes by Jackson, interspersed with extracts from printed works, newspaper cuttings, etc., including ms. genealogical tables and a few coats of arms, with ALs.S. from local clergy concerning queries realting to the work, mostly partially mounted on blank leaves, nineteenth century green half morocco, folio John Aubrey began his work on Wiltshire in 1656. Divided into Antiquities and Natural History, the two volumes of Antiquities were deposited in the Ashmolean Museum. One of the volumes was withdrawn by his brother and subsequently lost. The surviving manuscript volume is now in the Bodleian Library.

A manuscript note on the flyleaf suggests it was captured from the enemy during the Battle of Jutland.
French Code Flag Signal Chart, 1804. A large manuscript table titled 'Signaux pour les Cotes de France depuis Port Vendre jusqu'a Villefranche', with flags and pennants drawn in detail, ink and watercolour on card, 565mm x 427mm, [c. September 1804] According to the documentation with this item, the original was captured by the Royal Navy in 1804 during the period of Napoleon's closure of European ports to British trade. Copies were then made and issued to each Royal Navy ship employed in the following blockade of French Ports, the British tactical response. The Royal Navy intercepted all ships destined for France and gave them the option of delivering their cargo to Britain, or have it seized. The possession of this chart gave the British a definitive advantage. This example is sold with a number of facsimiles, produced c.1995.
