NO RESERVE Morris (William).- A Portfolio of photographs and research on William Morris designs, c.280pp. excluding blanks, majority with laid down black & white photograph and sheet of manuscript notes to verso, some with images cut from books or catalogues, a few other pieces of Morris related ephemera loosely inserted, many photographs or notes loose or working so, occasional light foxing or staining, loose in original cloth portfolio, lacking spine, worn, folio, [c.1970s].⁂ Thought to be compiled by Fiona Clark in preparation for the publication of her book "William Morris: Wallpapers and Chintzes" in the early 1970s. The notes accompanying the photographs include the title, material, dimensions and location of Morris' original designs, among additional information.

"An Indian Gazette".  10 watercolour drawings (ideograms) of an otherwise forgotten event in the French-Indian war, the war between Britain & France for control of Canada. This probably after a printed depiction originally recorded by a French engineer in 1760. This with watermark for J. Whatman, 1821; also a 19th cent. red morocco manuscript commonplace book incl. a couple of pages re. Mary Queen of Scots.

CARRICK T.W., of Wigton. Spatterin`s frae t`Pump. Original author`s manuscript, 161pp in ink, local dialect, in small quarto exercise book. Inscribed "T.W. Carrick, 6 South End, Wigton". Carrick was author of the excellent History of Wigton, 1949. The pump, a local Wigton landmark, was known for its  conversations with the adjoining lamp, as published in the local press.

GIBBS ARTHUR. Incidents of a Voyage to India & China, A Diary by Arthur Gibbs, Butcher`s Mate on board P & O S.S. Brindisi. Manuscript, 100 plus pp, well written in neat pencil, in small quarto exercise book. 1885.

HARRISON CORNELIUS, Stubb House, Winston, Co. Durham. Diary from March 1831 incl. European travel. Ink manuscript, hurriedly written & part filling (less than half) a thick leather bound vol. Prefaced by a note of the writer`s artistic training. He is recorded as donating 3 Raphael prints to the British Museum in 1835. His memorial tablet is in Bowes Church.

SELBY PRIDEAUX J. Cash Books 2, 3, 4 & 6 covering the periods 1811 to 1821, 1829 to 1833 & 1848 to 1855. Detailed manuscript financial record mainly involving James Russell of Alnwick. Small quarto in soiled vellum bdgs; with a related vol. (6). P. J. Selby of Northumberland (1788-1867) the distinguished ornithologist, artist, author & "gentleman naturalist". Russell appears to have been his man of business & there is much detail in these neatly presented day to day entries of Selby`s business, domestic & estate management transactions.

The binding is in very good, unrestored condition. The upper-cover joints are just beginning to split, though they're stable. The corners are gently bumped. A trifle of rubbing here and there, and some very light losses lost in the overall intricacy of the design. The bottom two spine compartments have former small wormholes, nothing too alarming. The boards very gently bowing. BCP: signature B4 defective with loss of text, signatures C4-D tatty with marginal chipped losses of letters, signatures E8 and O ditto. Both the BCP and the Psalms with some toning and occasional marginal stains in places, however mostly bright and fresh.

Tyndale's Bible, English New Testament. [The newe Testament of our Sauiour Jesu Christe], the first edition of Tyndale's version with Jugge's revisions and the first of the three illustrated quarto editions of Tyndale's version, [London: Richard Jugge], [1552], black letter printing with italic type, 37 lines to a full page, 295ff. only of 340 ff., with 90 in-text woodcut illustrations, 1 map, foliate and historiated initials, a typically incomplete copy of this rarity, as well as later leaves, it also lacks the title-page with its portrait of Edward VI and imprint details, the dedication leaves, other prelims and almanacs, however still conforming to Herbert's criterion, i.e. 37 lines to to a full page, Q7 b 'Beynge accused by their ovvne consicence' (John VIII: 9) printed in roman type, with the marginal note 'This is read in the greke testamente of Stephanus prynte', divisional title composed of ornamental frames of four blocks, reading 'The epistles of Saint Paule [...] The Canonicall Epistles [...] The Reuelation of S.
