An early 19th century guitar by Antonio D`Lorca, Malaga 1836, with label, length of back 42.5cm. Antonio De Lorca Garcia was born in Cartagena in 1798 and died in Malaga in 1870. He was the founder of a family of guitar makers and was followed by his son Antonio De Lorca Pino & grandson Antonio De Loca Ramirez. The family trained many other makers and is generally considered to be the most influential and important group of Malaga guitar makers in the 19th century.

The preliminary scales and exercises are followed by 56 pieces and six études. The only other copies located of this edition are in the Kenneth Sparr collection and Yale University Librart. One other copy of the third work is located in the British Library.
Carulli (Ferdinando).- Master & Scholar or the Spanish Guitar Simplified, being a complete method compiled from Ferdinand Carulli, 30 engraved pp.including title, the latter and last page slightly soiled, later wrappers, folio, Z.T. Purday, [c.1840]. ***This is described on the title-page as an "Improved Edition with Paganini`s Airs". There are three in all, following six pieces by Carulli in the preliminary instructions, four songs, six solos from the opera "Masaniello" by Auber, and a piece for guitar and piano. No other copy has been located.
Darr (Adam) Manuscript music for the guitar 62 pp., further pages not used, slightly soiled, a few leaves stained at upper outer corner, original cloth, folio, n.d. ***The manuscript is possibly autograph, but the music is more neatly written than that in the preceding lot, and the titles and instructions are in a different style, suggesting that the pieces were copied from Darr`s own manuscript. The contents are: No.1. Adagio et Rondo; No.2. Introduction & Rondo; No.3. Introduction & Polonaise; No. 4 Serenade; No.5. Einleitung & Walzer; No.6 Galopp; No.7. Introduction & Walzer; No.8 Polka; No.9.Erinerung an Rottach; No.10. Galoppe (Rasch); No.11. Galoppe; No.12. Introduction & Walzer (Schweinfurt 1836); No.13. Jagd Galoppe; No.14. Introd. & Walzer; No.15. Ländler; [No.16]. Erinerung an St Petersburg. No.1 and 15 have similarities to pieces with the same titles in the preceding lot, and are possibly solo versions of the same pieces, although passages in the first are marked "Accompagnement". The final piece was also arranged by Darr as a guitar duet. .

Harp Guitar by Rolfe of Cheapside eight strings, the ebony fingerboard with inlaid bone frets, a gilt star within the rose, and gilt head at the top of the pegbox, gilt foliate decoration around the bridge and outer edge of the soundboard, the maker`s name at foot of the fingerboard, 833mm. high, in mahogany case, [c.1820]. ***Included in the lot is an Mandoline Lyre by Nicola and Raffaeli Calace, with their label dated 1896, four double courses, in need of restoration. .
Molino (François) Grande Méthode Complette Op.46, second edition (revised and enlarged), lithographed pictorial dedication to the Duchesse de Berry and 3 plates by Engelmann, one depicting and naming the parts the guitar, the others of a female pupil and the left hand position, the remainder of the book engraved throughout, 131pp. (plate no. 80), including title-page and folding fingerboard diagram, both frayed and backed, somewhat soiled, contemporary half roan, worn, upper cover almost loose, folio, Paris, chez l`Auteur, [ownership inscription dated 1839]. ***The general introduction is followed by instructions on holding the guitar followed by lessons, scales and related pieces, a theme with 50 variations, and exercises in sustaining the sound on the instrument. A catalogue of music by Molino lists pieces up to Op.64. The volume was formerly in the collection of M. Stehling, a friend of Ferdinand Sor. The only other recorded copies of this tutor are a first edition and two second editions in Kenneth Sparr collection and a copy of the second edition in Yale University Library. .

At the end there are his autograph manuscript drafts for a song acompanied by the guitar and a guitar duet, 9pp., the first with dedication to Signor Bonaccia and his sister (another dedication to Luigi Mosca of Naples dedicatee of the Romanzo Caspriccioso, has been deleted); and manuscript music in a different hand, 7pp., for Le Postillion Musard and five other pieces. Toby decribes himself as a "Professeur de la langue Espagnole", but his music appears to be totally unrecorded. It seems likely that the volume was originally owned by the composer. Of the other pieces locations have only been found for one other copy of the Giuliani Trois Rondeaux. Giuliana no.14; and the Molino piece.

A Sting Precision Bass by Fender. This is a Sting Signature Precision Bass, manufactured by Fender. This 50s style guitar features a vintage style single coil pick up, contoured body with two colour sunburst finish and Stings facsimile signature in the block pearl inlay at the 12th fret and his actual signature to the pickguard. NOTE - this guitar is being sold on behalf Cumbria Community Foundation for the Flood Relief Fund. It was donated by Sting himself to be sold for this worthy charity.
