Purchased from Nahan Galleries (New York City). With original gallery label verso. Influenced by such rich and varied sources as Cranach, Delacroix, Matisse, and Klee and inspired by his friend Jacques Prevert, Max Papart did work intended to open a window into a world that provokes as much thought as pleasure. Since his first one-man show in 1946, he had over 300 museum and gallery exhibitions around the globe, and is the subject of dozens of books and catalogues.
