Andrew Hall (UK) Burr elm blues bowl guitar with pickup, tuner, plectrum, slideand case 80x26cm. Signed My first meeting with Ray was about 12 years ago when we worked together delivering a teenage turning weekend I had attended as an assistant to Jimmy Clewes and Jimmy introduced me to Ray. I then had the pleasure of seeing Ray demonstrate at the last ever Craft Supplies show in Bakewell at the old cattle mart. Ray did a brilliant demonstration and show cased the graduate lathe. My fondest memory of Ray was when I demonstrated at the last AWGB seminar to be held at Loughborough University during my 2 hours down time I had the pleasure of listening to Ray tell me his autobiography and enjoyed a piece of Liz Keys delicious fruit cake which she always made for the volunteers and demonstrators at the seminar. When I was asked to participate in the collaborative project I was delighted and hoped to receive a nice burr bowl to complete and that I did, The bowl was beautiful part turned blank of burr elm. Very little material was removed to true up the bowl and when I had completed the turning I decided to retain as much of the integrity of the bowl as I could. I decided I would include my influence by making the bowl into a blues bowl which I am known for. My thoughts were don't change the simplicity of the bowl as Ray was known for stating keep it simple and let the wood speak for itself and me for the instrument. I am so pleased to have been part of this excellent initiative Thank you The Ray Key Collaboration Auction
An Unmounted Painted Fan Leaf, showing a couple dancing under the shade of trees, near water, a short distance from a stone building with tower and balustrade, possibly as part of a wedding or other celebration. The couple are accompanied by seated guitar player, wearing a flat black hat and red cloak, another man wearing a black bicorn hat, and two ladies and a girl, the ladies both wearing white veils. An inscription in the plain gorge area states ''Dancing the Bolero near to Barcelona.'' The verso is plain. Side measurement of leaf approx. 6.5 inches or 17cm, centrally approx. 6.1/8 inches or 15cm The Bolero is a slow Spanish dance with intricate steps. Good, strong colours and fine detail. Slightly crumpled at the bottom left corner. Paint flaking slightly, top right next to the buildings and less so at the top left near the autumnal leaves on the tree.
A Mid-19th Century White Mother-of-Pearl Fan, the guards and deep gorge carved and pierced, gilded and silvered. The double paper leaf depicts a musical gathering, a river nearby with other couples sailing, and a young girl being pushed on a swing. The verso shows a rural scene of old buildings next to water. The reserves recto/verso feature flowers and gold. Contained in a box with internal label for J. Duvelleroy, Regent Street, London. Guard length 10.75 inches or 27cm. Together with a slightly later fan, the carved and pierced wood sticks clouté with silver on the guards, the gorge having attractive shaping and also clouté, in bands. The double paper leaf depicts a couple dancing, with castanets, to guitar music being played by one gentleman, a lady seated close by, other couples present, most of the ladies holding fans. The verso shows a group of three ladies and one gentleman at leisure, by water. The reserves recto/verso are highlighted in gold. Guard length 10.5 inches or 26.5cm. The MOP fan has several breaks to the gorge sticks, with old repairs. Two tears noted to the leaf, one to each side. The second fan is in good order.

AIN'T SHE SWEET - ATLANTIC RECORDING STUDIOS ACETATE RECORDING (ATCO 64C 7884X). Incredible piece of Beatles history with this single sided acetate recording of Ain't She Sweet from 1964. In January 1964, ATCO (who leased the rights from Polydor to market four of the eight Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers recordings), hired drummer Bernard Purdie and guitarist Cornell Dupree to overdub parts for the songs they had acquired from Polydor. This overdubbed version is best identified by the drum triplets heard just before the guitar solo. There are also drum triplets (roll) before each verse and extra hi-hat in the bridge that is not heard on the original released recording. There is also some echo (or compression) that was added over the original recording. It is believed this acetate was cut as a reference disc to approve the overdubs and is likely the only one in existence. With printed Atlantic Recording Studios white label (their New York address printed) with '64C 7884X' hand written). The playing surface (a 7" recording issued on a unique acetate disc measuring just under 10") is in G condition. There are many surface marks and some light scratches - the record plays through well with only light surface noise though note there are a few skips. Housed with original audiodiscs audio devices sleeve in Ex condition and the original US LP cover (ATCO 33-169) in neat Ex condition (no record).
