The Surrey branch made all of the woodwork for the amps and Copicats. They were often sent to London where Charlie Watkins fitted them out with their electronic components. Sid made the famous Watkins Rapier range. Once when Sid took a holiday for a week, a friend/colleague of mine brought in a sketch of a Gibson Flying V type guitar. He took the drawing to the woodmill where Lionel cut out the shapes. By the end of the week he had a completed guitar. When Sid returned from holiday, he did find out about it, thought it was quite funny. I believe he helped out with the neck shape...it's a one-off guitar, you won't see another'
