A Copeland plate of superlative quality for Goode decorated in the Chelsea gold anchor style with a border of gilt insects on cobalt blue reserve within gilt scroll cartouche and floral chains centred by the Crown of England within a floral and foliate border, the reverse with gilt printed mark surmounted by a crown, 250mm, tiny rim chip to rear. The crown pictured in the centre of this plate is a version of the English heraldic crown of England, indicating this was from a dinner service for H.R.H. Queen Victoria. Godden records the use of this mark from 1891.
