MILNE A. A.: (1882-1956) English Author, creator of Winnie-the-Pooh. A good A.L.S., A. A. Milne, one page, 8vo, Mallord Street, Chelsea, 30th May 1939, to a gentleman. Milne states that he is delighted to have a copy of his correspondent`s book and adds `I shall try to read every word of it before the school holidays begin; because when once my boy sees it, he will annex it for his own.` The author continues, `He is captain of his Prep School XI, and a very much better cricketer than his father ever was. In fact, if you can arrange for a new edition in, say, 1942, I think there will be a Milne (Christopher Robin) on p.114 or so.` A fine letter in which Milne makes a rare reference to Christopher Robin. SHEFFIELD UNITED Home programme v Liverpool, 30/1/1915, FA Cup, the last season of the Competition before ceasing for the duration of the First World War.. Sheffield United won the game 1-0 and went on to win the Cup defeating Chelsea 3-0 in the Khaki Cup Final at Old Trafford. Game v Arsenal is worn and grubby and most have scores etc but the issue v QPR Res has team page signed by five Spurs players, Baker, Dulin, Harmer, Brooks and Owen and the programme v Luton Res 11/12/54 has postponed written on team page. Two copies are "poor" remainder are "Fair" with occasional copy "Generally good". As described.
