Keith Haring (American, 1958 - 1990). "Life Is Fresh! Crack Is Wack!! (June, 1988) [invitation]". Offset lithograph. 1987. Printed 1988. Signed in black marker, lower right; signed and dated in the matrix. Edition unknown, presumed small. Light green wove paper. Full margins. Fine impression. Condition: fine. Overall size: 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. (140 x 140 mm). Bipo was a singer and a Haring assistant at the Pop Shop in New York City. This invitation to the party at Tunnel uses the same image as Haring created for Bipo's album cover of the same name released in 1987. The image was neither an editioned print nor a poster. Tunnel was a legendary nightclub in New York City, located at 220 Twelfth Avenue, in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, in the Terminal Warehouse Company Central Stores Building, now part of the West Chelsea Historic District. Tunnel was opened in December 1986 at the cost of $5 million by Eli Dayan – the founder of Bonjour Jeans – in a space which was formerly a railroad freight terminal. * RACHEL DEACON (BRITISH b 1969), A MOMENT OF REFLECTION oil on canvas, signed 60cm x 75cm Framed. Note: Since graduating from Chelsea School of Art in 1991, Rachel Deacon has exhibited extensively in London, the UK and internationally. Her distinct style of work has grown enormously in popularity and she has been published by the Art Group and CCA Galleries who both distribute her work world wide. Her imagery is derived from a carefully selected narrative, a short story, poem or extract from which she gains inspiration. Her work is not illustrative of that text, but freely interprets it and delights in the re-telling, the sentiment or idea. Her 'women' are self assured and provocative and often convey an inner strength. Naturally, through her inspiration, her paintings have a sense of narrative within them and are thoughtful or seductive, with quiet dignity and a timeless quality. Rachel's meticulous technique has won widespread critical acclaim. Through her yearly solo shows she has built up an impressive and ever growing number of loyal collectors. She also works to commission for corporate and private clients alike. She currently lives and works in London where the majority of her exhibitions are held. Rachel Deacon's most recent solo show in the USA was at the Richard J Demato Gallery (New York) in 2018.
